Kinda bummed at the moment but it had to/was going to happen eventually. My X got its first badge of honor tonight. Doing some light trailriding through a heavily wooded area and came into a washout gully. Straddled it fine but had to make about a 150 degree turn to make it onto the next section. As I was negotiating the rut (sandy terrain) the back end slid down in the rut and when it hit bottom it came to rest up against a tree. [Uh Oh !] I knew it was bad but what could I do ya know? I manage the turn and get back out into the open trails and stopped to survey the damage. Two insignificant dents in the driver's side rear door about 16" long (hardly noticeable) and destroyed the plastic wheelwell trim and putting a nice little dent at the edge of the well (which if I hadn't destroyed it, the trim would cover).

The paint... scratched to all ever-loving hell. Only a few made it into the clear coat but the rest will buff out. Kind of upset with myself for being that stupid for trying the trail in the first place (it was made by 4-wheelers mostly so very very sharp turns) but at the same time... it's gonna happen. Might as well go ahead and get the first dent out of the way right?

I think what pushed me to keep going was the fact that I haven't been able to find a trail to really challenge my X so far. Even stock this thing has really impressed me at how it handles terrain. With the exception of a donut in a field, I've yet to come against any obstacle worthy of spinning my tires.

If it wasn't a tree it would have been a grocery cart in a parking lot right? Can't keep 'em virgin forever.
