So, I've got an 06 X. I think it's the "S" trim. It's a 6 speed, but no frills. The basic stereo. VDC, no fogs, etc. (IS that the S trim?)

Anyway, I was at the car show yesterday and saw a yellow Off Road that I really, really liked. Being reasonable, although I'm really hung up on the yellow, I wouldn't trade it just for color. However, I'd like to know the differences between the S and Off Road trims? I understand there are skid plates and different suspensions, but when I looked at the Off Road @ the show, it had a Nismo intake, a garmin GPS hookup in the center where I have a little tray, it has a sunglass storage on the celing where I only have lights. I'm not looking for the DVD hookup (Which would be nice though), but the other goodies. The intake, the fog lights, MPG computer, etc. That'd be nice. What about the locking diff. Do I need that only for serious offroading? I don't plan on doing anything too crazy just yet as I'm just getting in to this.

I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and maybe even start contributing. Thanks!!!

I don't see an edit option anywhere, so I'll add it here.

I guess my bottom-line question is, can I add the things I like about the Off Road edition to my S to make it more me? Or would I be better off trading this in on an Off Road before I get too attached to it?

Oh, and does the Off Road come in a manual?

well, it depends on what you want to do. cosmetically from the outside, the OR sits a tad higher, and has different wheels inside. and of course fog lights.

Inside it has hill decent and locker. Depends on what you want to do.

Don't trade it in. Just improve on this one.
you can order fog lights at courtesynissanparts.com
and basically u can purchase new rims if u'd like, but makes no difference. it depends on what you want to do with it.

Welp. I'd like to get in to offroading. Unfortunately, I know of no places nearby that I can go play.

I bought the truck because I haul stuff for work a lot (computer equipment). I had a Rodeo before and it was great. But it was time to move up. I don't need/want fancy stuff. If I did, I would have bought a Pathfinder.

So, yeah, I'd like to go out and play with it. I don't need to change the wheels. I think they're ok for now. I wanna lift it a bit but I'll probably wait until the warranty has expired. The fogs I've found online. I can't seem to find the Nismo intake that the one @ the show had. Is that standard on an OR or was that just for the show?

And what's the diff locker for? IS that for serious rock crawling? And the downhill assist is for Automatic Trans, right?
Thanks for the input!

That tray replacement is nice. I hadn't seen that. However the intake I had already found. That's not quite what was in the truck @ the show. The cone was longer and there was a box behind the driver's headlight with a seal on top for the hood to cover and a hole in the driver's fender to suck air.

The intake might give u warranty problems. depends on the dealer. on the NISMO website, they clearly state that their CAI will void warranty.

Federal law requires that the dealer proved that what you put on caused the problem for them to deny warranty.

your better off lifting it.

Look up ur local Xterra club. I think Virginia Xterra club, will is the closest. I'm in the west,
so I'm little help. They'll also be able to help you out on wheeling spots.

You guys are alright! smile

So the Nismo intake voids the warranty? Bear with me because I've never owned a vehicle with a factory warranty. All new to me.

This is what the intake looked like:

Wow, I really sound like I'm hell-bent on the intake, don't I? I'm going to start reading more on this. Thanks for all the help guys.

Sorry, one more thing? Does it sound like I have the S trim? No steel wheels, but no frills, either.

how far in Western MD? We talking Garret County? Or Only Carrol County?

Where do you ride? Is there anywhere I can go for free and without fear of getting in trouble somewhere northwest of Baltimore County?
