The most amusing thing is that I'm hearing many liberals say WTF to this. Nominations had to be in with him only having 10 or so days in office. There's even a quote from one of the articles that specifics that he's getting it not for what he's done but for what he could get done.

Of course, Arafat got this prize, too. As did Gore (for a fricking slide show).

No reason whatsoever for him to have gotten this. None at all.

I do believe it was nothing more than the 'world' saying "@#$@#% you" to GWB.

There's a bit of that, but that doesn't make it less stupid. Seriously. They gave the prize to Arafat. Someone who thought it's a good idea to strap explosives to a young kid and send them into the middle of a nightclub or shopping mall to blow themselves and a bunch of civilians up. They also gave it to Gore for his slideshow instead of a woman who smuggled Jewish children out of the Warsaw ghetto so they'd live (and had severe beatings, including broken legs and all).

Yeah - this award is mostly crap at that this point, but this is like them just giving up all semblance of rationality or authority on the subject.

It should have been Beyonce.

That's a nice, typical leftist view. Don't exercise your Constitutional rights because I don't want to hear it.

That's odd, because just a year ago that wasn't the viewpoint from the left. I did see it from certain elements on the right, but slamming the POTUS was par for the course. For the extreme left, threats, trying to make him fail, and hoping he died was normal. Now that's considered anywhere between poor form and racism.

Just goes to show that even the most prestigious prizes still throw a bone to the token black guy.

What a joke. Those prizes are meaningless anymore.

Carter actually accomplished something notable (getting the Israelis and Arabs in the same room, much less to negotiate) and they dicked around until 2002 before awarding him the Peace Prize. That makes this 'award' look questionable at best.

They should rename it the Nobel We Like Your Agenda Better Than The Last Guy's Prize.
