I'm a new member and have a question for all you experts.
I have a 2001 Xterra with the 3.3V6 Auto. I had the timing belt, water pump, thermostat and head gaskets changed recently.
When the car is in drive, and idling, the idle is low (650RPM) and a little rough. It has 127K miles on it. I have replaced the plugs, leads and fluids. Could it have a fuel injection issue? And if so what is the best course of action? The MPG has also dropped in the last month by about 2mpg.

Just adjust the idle up to 750 rpm
You could also clean the MAF sensor, a likely suspect.

Already adjusted the idle but the computer then compensates and brings it back down.
I will check the sensor, thanks for the advice.

Well I have just purchases some 44K (heard it used on NPR Car Talk) so we'll see if that smoothes things out as it cleans injectors etc...
Twenty dollars isn't much to risk.

Thought I would update this thread.
I have just cleaned the MAF and its electrical connector. Also cleaned the throttle body and intake which was pretty dirty. Reassembled and the car is now idling at about 800-850 and sounding far happier. Result.
