I have had a buzzing noise for a month..sounds like a buzz saw or metal vibration coming from front drivers area.

Noise is constant at 2500 rpm when doing 65 mph or more. When getting up to 45 mph, buzzing occurs at 2500 rpm. Have heard it at a lower lever in between 1500 and 2000 rpm when going slow.

When at 2500 rpm, noise is constant. Buzzing noise only occurs during acceleration only.

Nissan dealer felt it was a section of exhaust pipe but no visible sign of cracks, separations, etc.

Took car to a private mechanic shop - they felt it could be coming from engine area.

I then went to an exhaust/muffler specialist shop where they felt it is not the exhaust system at all, and feel it is coming from the engine blower and likely the supercharger.

Supercharger was fully replaced by Nissan a few years ago. This is a new buzzing noise, cannot figure out what is wrong. Nissan intends to recheck problem but they don't seem to know what it is. HELP! Any ideas if it's not the exhaust?

once again, when asking for help to trouble shoot a problem, some info would be nice, why it cant be said to have basic info such as YEAR, MODEL, TRIM in a sig I dont know. and no your not the first person to ask without giving info, just letting you know that it can help.

My first guess would have been heat shield too, but just in case......

can you get it to make the noise when stopped and in neutral holding it at 2500rpm. the more info you can give the better, even if you think it may not be directly related to the prob.

you mentioned the supercharger, so I guess that narrows it down to first Gen. what about miles, what about other service that has or has not been done, ie: timing belt kit ? has that been changed yet ? could the belt be lose, could a tensioner be going?

Is the noise getting louder had the same problem with my 02 xterra S/C it had 50,000 miles when the supercharger went out. Have you notice that your X lost power if so that's the problem S/C. Good luck hopefully it is not the S/C cause it cost me 5,000 to replace. Look around your area try to swap in a Titan v8 could be around the same price range seen some xterra's with v8's cray fast

$5k? Did that come with or without lube?

Thanks for the heads up but I thought my Subject line said enough, the Supercharger is a one-type engine only comes in the 3.3L V6 210hp. Automatic.

The buzzing only happens at 2500 rpm while in drive, and slightly around 1000-1500 rpm. In neutral, nothing.

I just had the repair done..new pre-cat on driver's side. New timing belt too and water pump. New valve gaskets as mechanic noticed oil leaking, power steering pressure hose, and while they put the timing belt on they broke one of my cams!!! Luckily warranty covered that. Got car back after several days..no more buzzing, more pickup in the acceleration. Seems to be better now.

I had Supercharger replaced in my '02 4 years ago, so it wasn't a problem now.
