Ahh the joys of winter driving. Had a girl pull/slide out in front of me this morning on my way to class this morning. Fairly slow speed accident and no one was hurt. I'm hoping it was just the bumper shifting on the bolts and some shattered plastic with no other damage.

looks to be goodyear MTR's which ive heard arnt that great in the snow. i put a set on my rodeo before i sold it, so i havent had snow experience with them.

It might have flexed up and hit - and then flexed back into position.. steel is a little bit springy and resiliant.

I have run the Goodyear MTRs in MN the past three years and they are great in snow.

MTRs are great in all weather...I run the 35" MTRs and will probably go with no other brand of tire from here on out...and dammit, if I could, I'd run Desert Runner rims on my Xterra...those things just look hot as hell on a modded X...but alas, with my tire size and lift, I can't go to that backspacing

Good to see that no one was hurt though...and yeah, steel aftermarket bumpers are worth the cost...had it been a stock Xterra bumper, it would have been crushed and possibly ripped off.

They are the Goodyear's and they are surprisingly good in the snow and ice though I will be switching back to my other rims and revo's as soon as it warms up to near freezing.

Damage turned out to be more than I thought. Both headlight assemblies will need to be replaced along with the grill and possibly a radiator support. Plastic shatters when its -11f out. The bumper did flex quite a bit more than I would of thought and the left mounting point is sitting back 3/8ths to 1/2 inch further than the right and it was the main point of impact. Still a much more acceptable situation than the stock bumper or a smushguard as I'm sure sheet metal would need replacing.

So much for thinking it was going to be a 120 buck grill and a little time in the garage and some spray paint. I felt bad giving the girl who hit me the bad news.

Does anyone have a pic of the mounting points of a calmini bumper. I remember the holes had room for vertical adjustment but did they allow for any for aft play?

Also has anyone ever filed a claim with state farm with aftermarket stuff involved? The girls insurance company.

The Calmini has a tab that comes across and bolts into the front of the frame horn - so it isn't really adjustible front and back - though mebbe that tab bent or something...

Damn Stewart that sucks at least you are OK and overall the damage is minimal.

It warmed up enough to get a good look at why the bumper had shifted to the left. The beams that calmini uses to mount the bumper bent a bit.

Apparently I was to nice of a guy and the girl is claiming the accident was my fault even though she admits in writing to trying to make a left turn out of the parking onto the street directly in front of me. I no longer have any sympathy for her.

Girl can claim all she wants. The insurance companies will come to a decision based upon the written report and the apparent circumstances shown therein.

I got caught up in a disagreement between two insurance companies one time, with myself as the innocent third party. Person in front of me slowed and turned left into a driveway. Just afterwards, there was a Mustang coming up the road in the opposite direction grinding down the side of my car and subsequently spinning out in the front yard of the vehicle that just turned in.

Both of their insurance companies admitted that I was not at fault, but wouldn't decide on whose fault (among the other two drivers) it was. That went on for several months. Meanwhile, my car remained pretty damaged (all the way down the left side) and the driver's door wouldn't open. I spent from April to October climbing in and out of the passenger side of the vehicle (thank goodness for a bench seat).

My folks finally approached our insurance company who told us to go ahead and fix it and they would get involved with the other two companies to be reimbursed. They didn't do that initially since I was a youthful driver (19 at the time) and claimed that my rates would increase until the thing was settled. They turned face when they found out six months after the fact that I was still not fixed.

I'd be sure to check the frame horns - you might have bent those in addition to the mount of the bumper....

That's what happened to me when my ARB totalled a Chevy...

Turns out the Honda was written off. So far state farm sucks rancid goat balls and I have not heard a peep from them since last week. Allstate however was able to see the truck today and cut a check on the spot for initial repairs. I was also informed that I was found 0% at fault duh.

The only question that remains is the bumper and frame horns. Allstate wants to try and straiten the mounts and repaint the bumper (Bubye rustimi)if they can find a shop that will do it but most of the body shops I've been to that are worth a damn don't want to touch it with a 10 foot pole and I have a feeling they are going to end up replacing it.

Now I just need to find a Honda kill sticker
