I just love the acceleration and handling of this truck. Incredible. I love putting the pedal to the floor and just flying by people. I see speeding tickets in my future laugh This is just what I wanted and expected and this new truck delivers. I'm a very happy customer.

I got an 88 in a 65 mph. $530 in fines later! God bless New York State. You get the Town fine and then the State bends you over for another $300. I cannot wait to see what my insurance will do.

I also love the power!

I agree, the power is amazing for a SUV of its size.

I've never had any problem merging into fast traffic here on the Autobahns nor passing slower Porsche Cayenne Turbo’s on the long straights. wink

An all around safe and capable vehicle.

Faster than a Cayenne Turbo? I knew this forum was a bit bias, but didn't realize the extent.

Cayenne Turbo...no
Cayenne S......yes

I've driven both the Cayenne S, and the new X. The X is faster.

Can't wait to get one cool

I could see the 05+ X having more power and being faster than the base Cayenne as it has about 20 more HP. But the Cayenne S has 80 more HP than the X and the Cayenne Tubro has 200 more HP than the X. So I doubt the X could keep up with the S or Turbo models.

But at the same time, in my mind the Cayenne is NOT an SUV, it's a beefed up station wagon. Also, you could buy two loaded X's for the price of a Cayenne S or three X's for the price of the Cayenne Turbo.

The big question, as I did not buy my X to drag race. Which one can get up the mountain easier?

Power is good and this truck has it. I've only had mine for 4 days now and I think I'm in love again. laugh

I live at 10,100 feet in elevation and drive over an 11,300 pass on my way to work. This truck will easily cruise up the pass in 5th gear...if I need to pass just shift down a gear and blow past the riff-raff. [Finger] The 6sp tranny rocks.

Oh ya, one more thing, the Rockford Fosgate compliments the power nicely. I think I might've set off a few avalanches on my way into work this morning. [Smoking]

Jeez, you guys need to lighten up. I was being facetious, hence the winky face wink .

I would never drive my X anywhere near the speeds that they drive the Cayenne's around here. The X Off Road suspension will not support those speeds. At cruise the truck drifts and floats on less than perfect road surfaces and becomes worse in cross winds and when passed by said Cayenne (or any other car for that matter).

In a nut shell; we drive over powered bricks ... but boy, it's damn fun!

it was in response to the person who said that the X was "faster" than a Cayenne S, which I doubt it is. I could be wrong, but in HP and tourque the Cayenne wins.

I've actually driven my friends Cayenne S and for some reason the X that I test drove felt faster. I know the Porsche has the upper hand with more power/torque so I'm guessing it was a combination of the following:

1. Had 4 ppl in the X, 5 ppl in the Cayenne
2. Cayenne is over 600lbs heavier than the X
3. I may have been a bit easy on the Porsche throttle, as it belonged to my good friend :p

still...the X puts up a real good fight, especially considering it's only a V6

I know and I owe up to it. First speeding ticket is quite sometime. The last one was only 7 mph over. Ugh. Now the CC is set at 7 mph above high speed limit.

I love the power as well. If I'm on the interstate and don't have CC set then the next time I look down I'm doing 80 mph and don't even realize it. eek I try to set it every time that I'm on the interstate. Most of the time it's 65 and 55 in some areas. I don't mind doing 65 when it's 65 as that's how I get around 21-22 mpg.

If I had the money I'd throw on the super charger for the 3.5L Z engine and make some seriouse HP and torque but the SC runs around $5k. I want to get my other stuff done first like skids, lift, lockers, bumpers, etc then try to get the SC by then hopefully it will be lower in price.

JustDucky,
I agree about flying over the pass. Which one are you gong over, Fremont or Tennessee/Battle Mountain? I volunteer at Copper and I grin from ear to ear when I head up the Copper side of Fremont. The other day it was nice to hit the passing lane and fly by everyone else for a change [Finger] Last weekend I nailed the gas and droped into 5th to pass a car in South Park. After I passed, I looked down at the speedometer and found I was going 92mph. I never had my old X past 85mph and I was quite surprised how effortless 90mph was for the new one! I really have to watch my speed in the new one. I find that if I am not, I will be at least 10mph over the limit around town. I end up leaving it in second to make sure I'm not going too fast. Oh well, I'll see ya out on the road (Silver with a rocket-box on top). Save some pow for me.

Be sure to slow down for the school zones. You wouldn't want to be responsible for killing Kenny, would you? smile

According to Motor Trend, X is faster in a quarter mile run than Cayenne S and Toureg V8. But who cares anyway. Just makes your d**k bigger when you pass by a nice Cayenne or a V8 Toureg with air suspension.

Do not confuse quicker with faster. I can attest that the Cayenne in any trim level is much faster than the X.

Nissan Xterra Off Road 4x4 - ~$25,000.
BF Goodrich Tires - Included.
Smoking a 2006 Toyota Solara V6 From a Dead Stop, and the stupid look on the guys face - PRICELESS

Some things money can't buy, but for having fun, you got your X.

This was classic. The thing is, that the new V6 Solara is not a slow car, it ain't powerfull, but it is lighter. This wasn't even something to compare the two to. X took it from a red light, like a Ferrari would take a Pinto. Smoked an Eclipse before also. It's the look on their face that is Priceless.

My Xterra is pretty damn fast....Ive raced and kept up with:

A Chevrolet Silverado SS- i was in his blind spot the whole time but we accelerated at the same rate

A BMW X5 4.8is- (yes he was getting on it) this time he stayed in my blind spot the whole time andwe accelerated at the same rate

A brand new Dodge Ram Daytona edition with HEMI- we were dead even the whole time

A BMW 1998 328is manual 2 door- I left him in the dust

A G35 4 Door sedan- this was on the highway we were dead even until I topped out at 114 (I think the G goes to 130 or something)

My mom has a 2003 Infiniti I35 and I think mine is faster...and Ive raced an Audi A4 2.0T in her car and beat it so that leads me to think I can beat most Audis that have the 2.0t engine. All of these races were done to maximize acceleration i.e. brake torquing and manually shifting into first then second gear to shift at the redline.
