Hello All

After signing up and becoming a supportive member, I was having fun and grooving on all the good karma being tossed my way. My first post: http://www.xterraownersclub.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=79;t=000496 Well, then my wife got very sick, and things just sucked out here in Western Nevada (we just moved here from New Jersey). Well, things are getting back to normal, but we have 6 months of treatment to get through. She is holding up better then I am. Part of the return to normalcy, my wife encouraged me to get some new skins for the X. After 50K on the original skins, and having the Sierra Nevada destroy the OEM skins, my wife encouraged me to get Toyo Open Country M/T's (265/75R-16's). Now my 4 year old son can get into the X and hold his head up high. He calls my X a monster truck. I tell him its a mini monster truck. LOL. So I have the mod bug once again. This will of course require me to ask many questions with the resulting "use the search function." As always, I send those who respond a virtual Guinness. [drink]

Your wife and family are in my prayers...

Do you miss NJ? I left there to move to Alaska. I was in Cherry Hill. Hope you start loving your new digs!

RI Xterra, zuzuman03-thanks for the little wavy dudes or dud'ets. A Guinness to you both. Cheers. [drink]

RedX-thanks for the well wishes. She is into her 4th week, responding well to the medications. Loosing her hair. She may be bald like me. LOL. We have 6 months to go. Cheers. [drink]

Pepper Dash-from Hyman Hill, NJ to Alaska. That's a bigger move then me. Margate NJ to Carson City (Dayton) NV. Do I miss NJ. NOPE. Don't want to get down on Jersey, but I have had enough of Jersey. Lived 40 years 200 yards from the beech. Now I'm in the mountains, rediscovering my inner child. So what part of Alaska? And cheers. [drink]

Bios-what up. I knew you would be one of the first to post on my re-entry to XOC. Been a rough, very rough 3 months. My wife has Systemic Lupus. Or uncle Lupy as we call him...or her. She has been in remission for 10 years. No meds. During that time. We were told, no kids. Had two. We were told that you could never conceive, we did. Basically told our life (my wife's) life would suck. For 10 years it didn't. Then the move out West, new job, my hairy ass, and then the mod bug knocked the shit out of her. She got laid out but didn't know what hit her. The Lupus, is a autoimmune disorder. Makes the body think there is something in there that shouldn't be-then attacks it. In my wife's case, the Lupus attacked her kidneys. She now has stage 4 kidney disease. One step away from dialysis, 1 1/2 steps away from kidney failure and death (or transplant waiting list). So the 6 month treatment is to get her immune system to take a bong hit and chill. She is actually doing pretty good emotionally, OK physically. I'm the one who is taking a big dump. Hence her motivation to get the new skins for the X. She wants me to enjoy myself as we get through this. Thanks for posting and cheers. [drink]

Dave03X, and DBAX - thanks. Some good news I guess. The kidney doctor called and said that the weekly blood tests are not needed for now. They were watching her white cell count and kidney functions. So I guess this is good. But I am wound so tight, I'm not sure. My wife told me to chill and have a Guinness. So here is a cold Guinness to you guys. Thanks again. [drink]

Anthony, and kokopop-what exit on the GSPW? I was 36A LOL. Glad I'm out West. According to J. Morison, the West is the best. Cheers. [drink] [drink]

GilNJX - I don't want to get down on NJ. After I moved out here, and starting lurking around this site, I realized that there is quite a bit of Xterra activity near where I used to live, Atlantic City NJ. But I spent over 39 years 200 yards away from the ocean. Now it's time for the mountains. One mile away from a BLM entrance. 30 minutes away from killer powder at Heavenly or Kirkwood. So thanks for the good wishes. And cheers. You need a cold one being stuck in NJ. LOL. [drink] [drink]

Hello All-wanted to give a wife update. I received a hand full of emails and I thought that was pretty cool. Since moving out West and leaving friends and family behind-I'm grooving on my new virtual buds from sites like this. Thanks. We just passed the 8 week mark. The doctor says that her kidneys are back to normal functioning. But we have just under 5 more months of this bullshit to deal with. Some side affects are present. But my wife says she would rather be bald (with a wig) and alive then dead with a full head of hair. She has bigger balls than me. LOL. She wants to go on living instead of crawling under a rock and waiting to get better. So on that note, we are building a pretty big deck ourselves. We just spent the week end digging footings into the Nevada cement they call soil. We have 40 footings, 8 took us all day. I lost my shit and rented a power hydraulic auger. Did the remaining 32 in under 4 hours. Yes I know, work smarter, not harder. Yeah. After the deck is done, I'm hoping to install the Schrock f/r bumpers and sliders. So that's about it. Keep the good karma coming.

chrisf4i - not sure what your response meant. Since you are from PA, and most likely a Shoebe, I'm sure you don't live near those exit numbers. I hope you don't. LOL. But the short answer-no. Don't miss NJ at all. The long answer-

You are looking at my community I live in just South of Dayton NV. The trail I am on is a BLM trail that takes you to Como Peak. This spot is less then 10 minutes away from my door. I never experienced that kind of trail access in NJ. After 40 years living about 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean, I'm Happy to be smack dab in the middle of the Sierras. By the way, this trail goes on for miles. I have only gone 10 miles or so into the interior of the BLM. I have a life time to explore.

Cheers. [drink]

Very nice, looks like a nice place to explore, but I would be worried that mutated people would come after me like The Hills Have Eyes, haha.
I have no idea what a shoebe is. I am originally from that area. Middlesex to be exact, good old exit 7-8-9 off of 287, well first you have to go through P'way.

chrisf4i - your right about the Hills Have Eyes thing. Being the son of a doctor, growing up there, in NJ-were two things I was not allowed to be exposed to. Guns and motor-cycles. Out here, you need both. Guns-b/c you are literally out in the middle of no where. I have been told, not experienced this-that Northern Nevada is the crack capitol of the world and that there are crack manufacture houses (mobile homes) out on the BLM. I was told that "you could run into somebody who does not want to be found." Many people have told me this and my wife and I are reluctantly looking into a hand gun. Also-lions, and tigers and bears. Not really. But some mean critters and we off road with our young-ins and K-9 kids as well. I say reluctantly b/c we have a 2 and 4 y/o. Motorcycles-way cheaper to run and mod then the X. Way better on gas. I want a KLM 950/990 Adventure. The Shoebe thing. Living in Atlantic City, actually Margate-we would call tourist from PA, mainly Philadelphia-Shoebees. In the early 1900's, Atlantic City was the "Jewel of the Atlantic." Before cars, folks traveled from NYC and Phial, all points in-between via rail road. They would come to the "Jersey Shore" with their lunches packed in a shoe box. Hence Shoebees. Got it? You will be quizzed tomorrow. Cheers. [drink]
