I'm almost as new as you but I went ahead and bought one new and reading all these posts makes me nervous, all they talk about is problems, no one seems to say golly mine is runnin fine.
I have a 2005 with 50,000 miles on it and outside of normal maintenance I have had nothing go wrong with mine on the past 4 years.
Please keep in mind when you visit forums that most of they people who post do so because they have problems and are looking for help. Very few people ever post up they have had no problems.
