You're obviously beyond chugging JD or SoCo  , so let's look around.. Makers Mark is a fine bourbon, as is Bookers (in the same line as Knob). For that matter, Jim Beam is a fine low-end bourbon in it's own right. Old standards like Canadian Mist, or even Seagrams 7 still hold their value amongst todays "boutique" bourbons, as does good 'ol Crown Royal.
As always, consume responsibly, and please, don't drink and drive. [Too much XOC]

Oh, I just remembered, a long time ago, I got ahold of some "Jeremiah Weed". Smooth, sweet, and strong, somewhat hard to find. Haven't seen it in years..

I think Bulleit Bourbon is pretty good for the money ($20-25 per bottle). Almost too smooth, actually.

First of all, Knob Creek is Bourbon

If you want bourbon that won't break the bank (less than $40), then my top three choices are Basil Hayden's, Ridgemont Reserve 1792, and Knob Creek.

IMO:

Best whiskey: Johnnie Walker, Blue label. Pricey as hell, though, so I normally settle for Black label if I'm going that route.

Next best: Four Roses, if you can find it.

Normal "sippin": Maker's, Beam, or Heaven Hill black label.

Ahh... The joys of living in the Bourbon Belt...

Thinking of which, any of y'all come this way in September of each year, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival is a helluva' fun way to spend a weekend...

I prefer Irish whisky [drink]

Real nice and afforadable blend or single malt; Michael Collins Irish Whiskey

The 12yr or older Irish whiskys like Jameson are nice also, but more $.

I prefer scotch. more precisely chivas. the 21 year old is amazing. but over 120 bucks a bottle, don't get it too often.

Knob Creek and Canadian Club taste like watered down versions of the King.

Chilled. Mmmm.
[ThumbsUp] x2

For a single malt with a great "bang for your buck" factor, I don't think Glenlivet's 12 year old can be beat. At my wedding I had ~12 different brands of Scotch from 6 regions in Scotland (it's a family thing) and nearly everyone liked the Glenlivet the most, even though it was about half as much as some of the other stuff.

Buffalo Trace for bourbon....

Glenfarclas 12 for scotch....

Bushmill's single cask single malt for Irish whiskey....

Bulleit and Woodford are very nice bourbons, too. I've only been able to find Jim Beam's version of rye, so if anybody knows of a place to buy a different rye in the Front Range area please pipe up.

Been checking out mezcal lately. I encourage you to try a bottle.

Went to St Thomas years ago and brought home 3 bottles of the stuff. Spent less for those 3 then 1 here. Hmmm, I need to go buy a bottle, havent had any in 2 years. I've been on a Tequila kick. smile

I buy a bottle Basil Hayden's every Christmas for my Grandpa and a guy friend of mine. They both love it.

For mixing Jack Daniels. For sipping Gentleman Jack, very smooth.
Scotch single malt. Oban or Tallisker 25 year oak cask.

I tried Jack Daniels' single barrel last year, very smooth but expensive.

Bushmills is the same, they offer a 12 year old 'Reserve' that can only be purchased at the distillery. I purchased 1 of them and 1 of the 16 year old. I much prefer the 16 year old Bushmills over any other Irish one.

Well, if going with the e, than I'd have to go for Midleton. As for the others, I have an AzXC reputation for Knob Creek.

Don't care much for the e-less ones, with the fine exception of Maker's Mark.

With or without the e, Midleton's...
