IMO:

Best whiskey: Johnnie Walker, Blue label. Pricey as hell, though, so I normally settle for Black label if I'm going that route.

Next best: Four Roses, if you can find it.

Normal "sippin": Maker's, Beam, or Heaven Hill black label.
