You an SUV.. get over it.. Kills me how people buy a truck or SUV and then bitch about the MPGs.

Why in the hell are you still paying $3.15 per gallon ($47/14.9)? Where do you live, Rip-off City? Here's-My-Wallet-Help-Yourself-ville? The national average is only $2.34, and a lot less than that in many places. Or did you figure you're MPG wrong?

And no, the X is NOT a high MPG vehicle! If you think there's something wrong with your truck, that's a different question. However unlikely - you posted this as a gas rant. 14.9MPG is not that far off from "average" (it will depend on how you define "average" for these trucks with various extras - tires, lifts, etc.).

CAI won't help gas mileage one bit - just sound, throttle response, and a bit of power.

87 octane is right around $2 a gallon around here - some places as low as $1.94. Where do you live?

I'm not happy about the mileage either, but I knew what to expect when I bought it.

The X is my weekend toy while my crappy Neon (28-30 mpg) is my daily driver.

I actually found myself bitching to my buddy about this the other day.

Then I considered what a BMW M5 would suck. There ain't no free lunch as they say.

It's probably something to talk about - like the weather. Generally I am quite happy with the fuel economy on the X.

I live in Chicago, but I don't fill up there. Major difference.

I was stuck buying in the city. though what I had left would get me back to the burbs.

I live in Illinois but fill up in Missouri where I work and it's cheaper, $2.19 gal in IL vs $1.97 gal in MO. I bought my brand new X 2 weeks ago and have averaged almost 20 mpg on the first few tanks, so I'm happy as can be. About 70%/30% highway/city driving. I knew when I bought it what I was getting into.
