True, but they don't hand everyone at my company a gun and a steamer trunk full of public responsibility as soon as he/she gets hired. The "bad cop" situation could be vastly improved if we were to take some of the money from the school boards and pay cops what they're worth (for starters). Then be more selective about the ones we hire and keep.[/b]I couldn't agree more - law enforcement needs to be a profession, not just a job, in order to attract the high quality people that the work requires. Minnesota has been among the leaders in making this transition through strict licensing requirements which relate to education, background, and a host of other factors. This same movement is afoot all across the country but some places are much further along in the process than others.
