About a week ago, the F-ers took a birthday card out of my neighbor's mailbox, opened it, took the $20 from Gramma to her grandson and left the opened card and the paper from the envelope behind. Nice, huh? Our post office was like, "uh yea, we've had some reports like that lately."
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
Uh, what did you have in mind? You want lookouts posted to monitor for people pilfering from mailboxes? I'm sure they'll get right on it. How about educating people to NOT send cash through the mail? It's not just cash, bills are disappearing also. Basically anything going in or out that might have a check or a social security number in it have been suspect. My wife and I keep mail at the post office and run by to pick it up every two or three days, we pay bills on line and for the one bill we have (the local water bill) that doesn't do online billing, we mail the check from an official "theft proof" U.S. mail box.
One of the things I wish they would allow is my building of a slot in my front door or something like that. They don't. In my neighborhood, there are clusters of boxes along the street that have four or five boxes clumped together. It makes it easier for the postman to drive by and deliver mail. It also makes it incredibly easy for anyone else to drive by and take it. I'd like to see them install lock boxes instead. Cops could do a simple drive by after the mail was delivered once in awhile too.
Picking up our mail at the post office twice a week is a royal pain in the ass.
I suppose I could install one of
these, at $150.
