Presidential Campaign Roundup....

Latest developments....

The Republican candidates had another debate Sunday night in Florida. Here we have the top tier candidates smacking each other around a little. It's a bit entertaining.

In an amazing development, Mitt Romney's hair is not perfectly coiffed. Something must be afoot... [Huh?]

......................................

The last Democrat debate was on Sept. 27. The most recent news on the Democrat side of the presidential race is Hillary Clinton\'s corrupt and shady fundraising practices.

Then there is Barry Hussein Obama's displays of patriotism that is creating a bit of a buzz. Actually, more correctly, his refusal to make overt displays of patriotism.

I'm sure we all remember Barry's recent comments where he states his refusal to wear an American flag pin on his lapel. He claims the flag lapel pin is a "substitute" for patriotism. Well, alright. We'll move on.

Maybe Barry Hussein also thinks that putting your hand on your heart during the playing of the national anthem is also some type of substitute for patriotism.

Here we see Barry and many other Democrat candidates at a steak fry hosted by Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa a few weeks ago during the playing of the national anthem. A picture can be worth a thousand words. He doesn't even make an effort to fake it....

The despicable Time Magazine even labeled the photo "Respect". Respect for what?

Here is a video of the event (The girl singing the National Anthem also leaves a lot to be desired).

......................................

Chuck Norris has endorsed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee for president.

Read his column...

......................................

In the nothing has changed department....

Ron Paul and Mike Gravel are still crazy old cranks.

[Freak]

......................................

In the tradition of comedian Pat Paulsen , Comedy Central's Steven Colbert has announced he is running for president... but apparently only in the South Carolina primary.

[Freak]

......................................

That pretty much brings most of the race up to date.

The next Democrat candidate primary debate is October 30, on MSNBC in Philadelphia.

Pretty sad state of affairs.

If you didn't know better you'd think this was the next comedy blockbuster coming out.

Kind of strange that it's almost like Obama is running on an Anti-America platform, probably not a good idea.

I call BS on the Time photo...something seems wrong with it....Richardson is facing a completly differnt way than the rest... and the edges of each person seem odd...as does the flag...I can't watch the video here at work so I may be completely off base but...

Not sure about what you see in the photo or what direction Richardson is facing. He's just looking into the crowd at that instant. The video basically shows the same thing.

Here are two screenshots. Richardson is here in the first.....

We also have a screenshot of the "silky pony" standing between Chris Dodd and "Xerox Joe" Biden...

I stand corrected..the photo does appear legit then...looks like (from that screen grab) that Edwards is also not putting his hand on heart...though hard to tell from that angle...But as to Obama??? F him....

News Update:

Fred Thompson has just announced his immigration policy...

Border Security and Immigration Reform Plan

It includes:

-- No Amnesty and Attrition through Enforcement

It's good that he got that down as written policy.

-------------------------------------

On another note.... the disgraceful US Senate is bringing back amnesty for illegal aliens through a stealth tactic known as the DREAM ACT tomorrow afternoon.

Call your senators.

So not put your hand on your heart makes you unpatriotic?

Please.

At best it makes you disrespectful of the National Anthem and the flag. It always astounds me how many doofuses don't remove their ballcaps at a game when the anthem is played.

We live in a nation where you can pretty much do what you want, well you used to anyway. If more people paid respect to the very nation that gives them that freedom, then maybe someday we will get back to the level of freedom we once had.

I think the key to his policy is the streamlining of the existing immigration procedures.

I liked a lot of what he said on the florida debate. Romney and Guiliani spent the entire time joking, attacking each other, and skirting all the questions. All the other candadites at least attacked the question.

We're in trouble again though if this is all we have combined with the "hillary" threat in 08. Our nation is going to decline further.

Flag etiquette requires that one not in uniform place the right hand the their heart and face the flag while the national anthem is being played. One wearing a hat should remove the hat, hold it in the right hand and place it so the hat is covering the heart.

At public events, the flag should be placed on the right hand side of the stage, the left hand side of the audience.

Thus, in this picture, all of the candidates should be facing the flag to our left. Richardson isn't doing so. All should have their right hand over their hearts. Obama Hussein doesn't.

It's a blatant and overt sign of disrespect.

For a guy who is running for president to act in this manner says an awful lot about his character.

I understand that he is standing in front of an audience of Democrats, but even he knew that by standing up on that stage all eyeballs and cameras would be looking up at him. He didn't care. He intentionally chose to be disrespectful.

If a guy can't even bring himself to show the proper respect during the national anthem while on the campaign trail, there is no way in hell he is worthy of any elected office.

WTF is a "steak fry"? Like chicken fried steak? I've never heard of a chicken fried steak party...

AAR, I'm pretty much repulsed by some aspect of all the candidates... Giuliani is one of the closest to my libertarian leanings - but he's for gun control.

Why aren't there any candidates that are both pro-gun and pro-choice at the same time? Heck - if you aim carefully perhaps you could combine the two things wink

I can't really answer as to what type of food is served or how it is cooked.

I do know that Tom Harkin ("Tommy the Commie" as some in Iowa refer to him) has this so-called "Steak Fry" every year. It is really a Democrat political fundraiser because people have to pay anywhere from about $25 to $500 to attend.

Giuliani is NOT libertarian nor does he have what can be considered libertarian type leanings. Are you referring to his pro-illegal immigrant stance as being libertarian?

Bill Richardson is pro-gun and pro-choice.

McCain hasn't shown up for work in the Senate in how long now?

It's going to be a long, ugly year ahead.

McCain was in the Senate today. He voted in favor of the Southwick confirmation this morning (Clinton, Obama and Biden voted against him).

We all know why he didn't vote on this backdoor amnesty bill. His position on illegal immigrants and his behavior and strong arm tactics in favor of illegal aliens during the last amnesty debacle in the Senate has killed his campaign.

Never thought I'd have much to say about politics, but I met Fred Thompson this afternoon. He came to Bluffton to have lunch and make a couple of appearances. smile

Initial impressions... very nice man! I appreciate the fact that actually looks you in the eyes when he talks to you. Also a very confident speaker... didn't have any problems answering the usual questions... immigration, taxes, etc.

Sorry if the pic's a bit fuzzy but I had my coworker take it with my Treo.

On a side note, I overheard someone who met Rudy Guillani a couple of months ago say "Rudy's got the same talent Bill Clinton does. He'll answer your questions by telling you exactly what you want to hear, when its over you're not exactly sure what the answer means, but you'll wind up feeling good." Now that's interesting!

No it's not.

If he and Clinton (or whoever) were sitting there gabbing at that point...THAT would be disrespectful.

It might be a good time for an update. A lot has happened in the past week or so.

The Democrats had their debate last Tuesday night and it did have it's interesting moments. You can view the entire debate by clicking the link below...

Democrat Candidate Debate - Tuesday Oct.30 (1 hour 47 minutes)

It was somewhat telling that they didn't allow candidate Mike Gravel to participate in the debate. Any ideas on who's campaign fought to keep him out?

Most of the debate was the usual Bush bashing, the need for socialist style government programs, more government, more government, more government and some more government. However some candidates seized the opportunity to attack frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

It was a bad night for Hillary Clinton. She started what could be the beginning of some serious damage to her campaign. She completely faltered and was taken aback by having to take a stance on the very controversial issue of drivers licenses for illegal aliens currently exploding in New York State politics.

Here is a video recap of what occurred.....

As you can see from the clip, a couple of her opponents are smelling blood.

To make matters worse, her campaign stated the following day that she supports NY Governor Spitzer's plans to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens. In the week since, she is now supporting any state that issues drivers licenses to illegal aliens. Regardless of the fact that the public is furious over this issue.

Now, adding insult to injury, her campaign did nothing but complain that the media moderators of the debate and Tim Russert should not have asked her such questions and her campaign has been acting like crybaby whiners that Hillary was somehow treated unfairly at the debate.

Hillary went from presidential candidate to 'victim mode' within a matter of hours after the debate. Some of her people complained she was unfairly treated and some have complained that she should not be confronted by even her opponents because she is a woman and it is men ganging up on the female.

Well, if she can't handle tough questions by the media in a debate, or attacks from her Democrat opponents, she can't handle being president.

Many liberals and others on the left saw both Hillary's performance and the Democrat position regarding illegal aliens as political suicide because almost all of the public is angry and fed up.

Here is what a liberal blogger and journalist had to say on the issue....

http://thegarance.com/archives/885

Quote:
Perhaps I am not giving my fellow Americans enough credit, however, it seems to me that the Democratic presidential field last night just committed suicide en masse, with Hillary Clinton the last to swallow the poison by holding out until this afternoon to endorse New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s proposal to give illegal immigrants some form of driver’s licenses.

First, let us recall that the reason comprehensive immigration reform failed this past year was not because the president blocked it, but because the people rose up and opposed it. Recall also that Spitzer’s initial plan on driver’s licenses failed, for similar reasons. John McCain’s candidacy crumbled in the face of his support for immigration reform. And a new Democracy Corps study finds that the issue of unprotected borders/illegal immigration is the No. 1 issue cited by independents.
................................................

Hillary Clinton was questioned about the fact that the archives related to her years as First Lady are sealed and locked away and cannot be viewed by the public until well after the next election.

Well, why is that? The public needs to know. She is claiming her years as First Lady as part of her experience for the presidency, yet the Clintons refuse to release documents related to her. She hypocritically claims the Bush administration is secretive, yet refuses to release documents related to her so-called experience or years as First Lady.

Here is a clip where Barry Obama slams her on that secrecy... (then he can't help himself and goes on to the usual liberal talking points about healthcare and climate change).

Hillary Clinton's poll numbers have dropped in the first primary state of New Hampshire since last Tuesday's debate. She's still in the lead, but her lead is not as wide.

................................................

Dennis Kucinich has seen a UFO. It's interesting considering many have always thought he was from outer space....

Fred Thompson seems to be the only candidate with a serious immigration plan. One that almost all the voters would get behind. At least all Republicans, Independents, and many old style Democrats.

You can view it here.....

http://www.fred08.com/virtual/Immigration.aspx

Also.... another point...

Fred is the only candidate who brings up the issue regarding VOTER FRAUD with giving illegal aliens drivers licenses....

You will NEVER see any Democrat discussing that aspect.
