The major, if he is guilty
IF he is guilty?
He is a military prisoner. That means that he can be fed bread and water if the commandant so directs. He can be made to break big rocks into little ones all the way up until his execution. Military prisons aren't like civilian ones.
This murderer is not the first American Muslim soldier to succumb to "Sudden Jihad Syndrome". I highly doubt the others have ever had to break a single rock and I doubt there will be any days of bread and water.
He may be sentenced to death by the military as it appears his actions were very premeditated.
Since he is alive and the lords of political correctness are already working overtime to portray him as a victim of sorts, the only bread we'll be seeing regarding Major Jihad will be bread and circuses for the media and their so-called "Muslim Mafia" allies in this country.
As far as the gun thing, I don't find it unusual. He's in the military. Doctors in the military carry pistols in combat. I'm a signal officer and I own a machine gun. If I manage to get into vet school in a couple years, I won't lose my passion for firearms. The only odd thing really is the whole Arab get up. I would think that would stand out in Texas.
Do military psychiatrists go into combat?
Madman, I thought you were a conservative. Most conservatives I know believe in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. According to these documents, one is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. So yes, IF he is guilty. I respect the country far too much to allow anyone to bypass the rules. You're just as bad as the Liberals you hate so much, with this attitude. I know you're better than that.
One thing you should learn about the UCMJ - you never say what someone will receive, just the possibilities. High profile case like this, you can guarantee he won't make friends in Kansas.
These days, not many go into combat. Like Bill Clinton, it depends on what your definition of combat is. To me, it is closing with and destroying the enemy. These days, people seem to think it is driving around waiting to get blown up, or like our Chinook riding friend, flying cargo around. The psych guys do make visits to various outlying bases or Combat Outposts. Usually they come around if there has been some sort of "traumatic event" like indirect fire or someone having an escalation of force incident. And yes, they are armed with a pistol. Everyone in the military is armed except the chaplain.
