Came across this from my daily RSS feed. Kinda interesting read.

THat's about the only reason they are selling PS3's - because it's currently about the cheapest Blue Ray player on the market. Piles and Piles of them in stores and everyone walks past the thing like it's last years big thing. If your local Best Buy announce that they might have 10 Wii's this Sunday and there will be 20 people lined up waiting for the doors to open.

For Nintendo to drive the final nail in the PS3 coffin they need to get more units into stores.

the wii is a different animal. It's more family/kid oriented IMO. The 360 and PS3 are more for your hardcore console players.

^Agree with this statement.

Don't forget about the virtual console though if you're trying to figure out Wii's appeal. Lately I get more enjoyment out of playing Punch Out than I do playing a Wii game. laugh

PS3 = Too damn expensive and lack of good games!

I was going to do the same thing, but I don't think I'll end up committing to either as I prefer watching movies from my PC thru my 360. Both formats may end up being a quick stepping stone to solid state/downloadable movies. I'm just glad the 360 didn't force me to buy one or the other while jacking up the price. Then again, I've been saying that since day 1. laugh

Really?

I enjoy watching movies stream over the internet through my PS3, with no add-on anything... Straight to the TV.

Yeah, you can do that on the Xbox too (although I don't care to do it that way), but still has nothing to do with HD/Bluray. BTW, you might want to help this guy out:

Looks like people have already answered him.

I like the PS3 browser; it handles youtube, myspace, windows media player, and flash videos very well. I haven't tried it on any quicktime sites, yet; I don't know if it'd work.

One of these days I'll get around to installing linux on it as well, since there's a free compilation targeted specifically to the PS3. Sony was nice enough to include a partitioning utility for the thing, so you can run dual OS's w/o any additional headaches (other than the usual that come with linux).

People answered him, but it doesn't look like they told him how to play streaming video. Looks like they said you have to download the video and convert the file, unless I'm reading it wrong.

You didn't read all of it:

yeah easy, on the browser, put in www.alluc.org and voila
You only have to download & convert, if it's not a native supported file format.

My bad. Yeah, I didn't see that. Prolly because it doesn't seem like a typical website name.

Blu Ray v. HD-DVD...

Watch where the porn makers go and you'll most likely have the winner. (Which at this point, hints toward HD-DVD)
