Ok, I'm new to this wireless thing since my house came all network wired. Anyway, I bought a laptop and had it all plugged in (wired) and for some reason the initial boot chose some wireless connection close to me, which was much slower than my speed. Is there a way for it to choose my wired connection first or do I just have to have the wireless connection disable in order to do that?
This is weird, whenever I had to use wireless and wired it would always try to use the wired connection first.
Here's what you do though:
Open the network connections and right click on you wired connection. Click properties.
click on tcp/ip and click the properties button. on the new window press the advanced button. on that window there should be something about automatic metric. Set it to 1.
Do the same thing for the wireless connection, but set the metric number to any number higher than 1, say 25.
That should set your wired connection to the higher priority connection over your wireless connection.
