So after some back and forth with Sony I finally got a WORKING version of the Sony Location free TV. the first model had problems with the WIFI signal so I sent it back, they were unable to repair it and offered my cash back, but as I only paid $699 (Regular $1499 cad) for this thing I insisted that they find me a replacement.
I got the call yesterday that they are giving me the new model and that it is in. I drove down and picked it up, played with it all last night, here is the review:
Setup is easy, it comes with an instructional video that explains it all. I have it hooked up to a Digital Cable box and a DVD player. You attach the IR blaster to both which allows you to remotely control either from the touch screen.
I also configured the TELAV function (allows you to watch your local cable TV from anywhere int he world through WIFI). I actually have it sitting on my desk watching sportsnet. the picture is ok. As it is buffered it has not been choppy at all. you can adjust the quality of the picture if your reception is poor to ensure a better stream.
The home TV function is great, portable with good range (covers my 2600 sq ft house including the garden). Picture quality is LCD and quite good too. Changing channels is done by touch screen (you simply swipe your stylus over the screen and it changes) or touch the screen adn an online remote appears. you also have full internet browser with email build in !.
Overall I could not justify $1499 for this puppy, but $699 is a great deal I was looking for a TV for the bed room, this way I can take a crap, and not miss the Hockey game !.
