well my AEM has a heat shield that seals with the hood to keep some of the engine heat off, im not saying all, but some. i actually did notice a slight power gain when i installed mine. i unhooked the battery to reset the computer and when i was done i hooked it back up and went out on the road, stoped, and floored it to, i guess let the computer reset the MAF for the new intake to take in the extra air. i was told to do this upon install. now if its just me thinking that it changed anything, then it is. put i did notice better gas mpg.
Yeah the K&N has a heat shield to for the filter. But the tube gets most of the heat. since it sits closer to the engine.
