Yes. My mileage went up w/ 33x12.5 BFG M/T's. The extra weight/drag was never an issue. I went from consistently getting 15 mpg w/ 31x10.5 BFG A/T's, to 18 mpg consistently w/ the 33" M/T's.
Of course, once I added more steel and a winch, I'm now back to 14.5 mpg...
