there is actually a design plan for that. The air is MEANT to come a little more from the engine bay area. All cars are designes so that if the climate control system were to go on the fritz, then the default mode would allow the fresh air to pass into the ducting, and blow out the defroster vents and the floor. The reason for this is that if you are in the winter, and the climate system dies, it allows warm, dry air to blow on the windshield, keeping it from fogging up. So it isn't a design flaw, it is a design intention.....lol
