Could be an exhaust leak at the manifold too.

Put a rag on the exhaust pipe to block it while its running (Well, have an accomplice to that part...) while you listen for the noise under the hood.

If the rag-blocked exhaust re-creates it for that rpm, etc...that's it..if not, increase the rpm...if still nothing...you can cross that one off at least.
