I finally decided to deal with this.

I paid a friend to do it. I bought the lights.

There are three lights behind the instruments. Two of mine were burned out. Nissan wanted $20 each for these funky little lights! I found cheaper alternatives at Car Quest for $3 each. We replaced all three lights.

My heater control lights went out again, so I replaced those as well. There are two lights behind the heater controls. These lights are different than the ones behind the instruments. Couldn't find these lights aftermarket but Nissan only wanted $6 each for them so I bought two from Nissan and replaced those as well.

So it was $150 total for 5 lights and labor. Money well spent. Now I don't have to carry a flashlight with me when driving at night!
