i'm in the process of getting sliders, and i'm selling my factory side rails (hint hint ). has anyone tried these sliders themselves? i would like some feed back on the customer service (i understand it's an independant fab guy) and how they hold up to hard impacts. the delivery time is almost a month though...but i am willing to wait since they are somewhat cheaper and i like the looks of them more than the eoe or calmini.

check out the norcal club section there are several who sport them on their x's. i have them on my pathy, nice product excellent quality. he does all the work from his home in the bay area, drove up to his house talked 4x4 stuff & left w/a sweet set of sliderz.

I have them and have used them a lot. I love them thay have saved me a lot of money on body work. Some people are worried about some thing geting stuck in the side bars but I dont see that happening I've used them all over and no problem and have slamed down on them verry hard and I'm verry happy with them. P.s. I have the ult ones he also did a 2" lift for me since I have a 2" body lift for free he is a nice guy.

Roger Brown is a good man and he makes a fine product. I've been happy with my Sliderz though there was some problem fitting them initially because my early production 2000 Xterra has about a 3/8" difference a the front of the vehicle between the frame and the pinch seam than later models.

The ladder design has worked well for me and it sticks out just far enough from the rocker panel to allow for a toe hold to stand on.

The only thing I've had stick in the ladder is mud. This presents a problem for me when I'm washing the vehicle and have to get access to the underside of the rocker panel to clean. The space between the ladder and the panel is too small for my hand to get in there, so I have to spend more time than I'd like getting this area clean.

XOC members "Huey", "XSAL", and "johnnyx" have them. "CharlieX" may have them as well. All are in the Nor Cal area and I think each of them drove to Sacromento to meet Roger and pick up the sliders. (saved on shipping hassles;) Roger even helped them to install it, on the spot.

Those are my first choice as well, based on the reasons listed previously. They seem to be a good compromise on cost, quality, and design. I hear the others in NCCX have used them and they survived a pretty good beating on the trails.

Kayak_x has them too. I'm happy with them. Roger is a good guy and made mine a little wider so that I could have an easier "stand" while loading kayaks on the roof.

Roger's sliderz is very good. It saved me from many body/rocker pannel damage situations. There was once my truck was dropped on the rock....about 3-4 inches (I think it was...). Considering the weight of the vehicle, that's a pretty good impact. The slider held well...absolutely no damage to the vehicle.

If you are thinking about them....go for it. You won't regret your decision.

I've seen the sliders in action at tellico on SlackerX's truck, He has gotten some rocker damage from the slider itself pushing up into the rockers on some pretty hard hits. Overall, I would say they are very good sliders.

I can't say enough good about them The have taken solid hits and I frequently use them to lift the truck (half at a time) and for getting unstuck or swapping tires. Very strong. Did I mention that I like them a lot?

he lives in sacremento? hmm..shipping is about 70 dollars...i just have to calculate the gas to drive there and i'll see if it's worth driving. but thne again i love to drive randomly so i will consider it. thanks guys.
how long does it take for him to build them? is there a long waiting list? what's the wait time been for all you who have them?

he's emailed about the size difference in 2002 and 2003. there weren't any changes right? i assume the bolts and everything would be the exact same dimension.

I believe the frame is the same from 2000 to 2003 and that the step rails are completely interchangeable in terms of bolt hole to bolt hole distance etc. If nobody else confirms this just measure the bolt hole distances and compare with an earlier model year. I can't imagine Nissan would be stupid enough to make that mistake.

Yep. I got 'em too. They're excellent. I've saved some some serious $ by bashing them instead of my rocker and doors. (Of course if I didn't have them, I probably wouldn't have attempted most of those 'obstacles'.)

Those should work very similar to the 4Crawler ones. I just don't like that they have a round outer bar with no grip (unless the final prodution version will, or you could always add your own grip tape). They look very slippery for use as a step, especially when wet.

Round tubes can be pretty slippery at the worst possible time. I'd also be concerned about their strength relative to the rockcrawlers with the square tubes.

Round tube is stronger than square tube. That's why you see race cars, sand rails, trophy trucks, etc., all made from round tubing. Essentially you have the applied forces on all 4 sides instead of just the 2 from a square.

I don't agree that round tube is stronger. I think a certain walled steel is the same whether round or square. A structure made out of bent round tube versus welded square is certainly stronger and lighter, but only because bends are stronger than welds.

Actually, a round shape is 1.18 times stronger than a square shape of the same size (in bending). But you can optimize a square (or rectangular) for the direction of force and make it stronger and/or lighter than the round.

From Roger himself on another board:
One thing that is unique about Rogers sliders is that they are designed to let the pinch weld support force on the sliders. Pinch welds are pretty strong and they can support a lot of weight when spread across a large area. The advantage is that they can be made relatively light.
