Just like to say I entered the 100000 club yesterday!! -2000 XE 4x4- Considering that I came from Guam only a year and half ago that's quite a deal. No major issues besides normal servicing, brakes, tires, etc. The Xterra has been one great truck for roadtrips, moving, camping, daily commuter, and yes taking my kid to soccer. Everything you need and nothing you don't! Never get tired of the aesthetics or the ride. Our family is Nissan proud!
(now that I'm done with my accolades and praise for my Xterra, anyone know of anything particular to pay attention to now that I am over 100000)
Thanks XOC for all the great info over the years!

Might want to think about getting the timing belt, water pump (easier to do when doing the timing belt), and spark plugs/wires replaced.

Congrats!
I just passed 5,000 yesterday. My baby is only 2 months and 1 day old. She is well on her way though.

I feel your excitement. I have a 2000 SE that turned 100000 two weeks ago. I think now it is sitting at about 100700. I have had no problems out of mine either. My anniversary is on April 12th, of when i rolled it off the lot. Keep it up and maybe Nissan will buy them back from us at 200000?? You never know.

Go have your timing belt changed as the manual calls for it at 105000. I wouldn't try to squeeze the other 5000 although it is probably a somewhat conservative number that Nissan has set. Its always cheaper to replace a timing belt before it breaks. I'm not sure if the VG33 engine is a valve bender but I wouldn't want to find out by personal experience. If other damage does not occur when the belt snaps you still at very least save yourself a tow bill. Also as Guido said may as well change the water pump as well because they will have it off anyway and it will save you some labor charges down the road. Congrats on you 100K. My 03 just rolled to 10K

Thanks everyone for the info on what to look out for. Again this site has been great for the helpful info. Looking forward to another 100000! And with what I have planned already should be no problem (a trip to california each month and 3 trips to utah in the summer should help me along)

Rear Main Seal replaced under ext-warranty at 98k. Some other minor stuff along the way - no biggie.

I have a 2000 XE 3.3L and I am at 131,000km or so and I have had no serious problems yet.......broke a mirror (damn tree ), had to remove some rattling heat sheilds.......thats about it.......oh, and the bumper corner and tail light the dump truck removed for me on a job site ![[Freak]](graemlins/freak.gif) ......still runs the same as when I bought it.......just keep changing the oil and checking your fluids like you should ........ and checking over the X everytime you get under it to do work......... I can remeber growing up when all the old mans trucks (Datsun or Toyota) went to the grave with their original timing belts, and he wasnt easy on them by any means (me noether )......and they all had 250-300,000 kms on them, or more.....I read all you guys saying how important it is to replace things as Nissan specifies but we also have to remeber that Nissan wants us to spend our money on OEM parts at their prices and use their technicians.

Even a good idea to change those as timing becomes more and more a hunt for the engine. Timing belt replaced at 100,000 miles is about the norm for today's engines.

192,000km here (~119,000 miles) and truck still runs great for the most part. "Problem" work I've had done to date: - one cracked manifold - rear main seal leak - one alternator - one starter - one drivers door window/lock control panel - one rear drivers drum (damn e-brake) Regular larger maint I've had done: - timing belt (and all drive belts) - water pump - thermostat - oil seals - resealed oil pan (did while repairing rear main seal) Current problems that need to be fixed: - Calmini steering idler arm bushings - Lower ball joints ($$ for entire LCA's ) Overall, so far so good. I still love my truck!

Originally posted by Shawman: Hey xcited, did you have the rear main seal done at a dealer and if so how much? thanks Yeah I did, but on that particular service I went ahead and did most of the stuff in that list all at the same time... - Rear main seal - re-sealed oil pan (just being pro-active) during the same visit: - Timing Belt, Tensioner, Stud & Spring - All drive belts - Camshaft Oil Seal - Crankshaft Oil Seal - Water Pump and Thermostat - Tranny flush - Coolent flush We have a dealer here that supports and sponsors our club and he gave me a smokin rate on all that work so it'd be kinda hard for me to tell you what it would have been reg rate for just the rear main seal...

The last couple oil changes I have noticed a drop of oil hanging from the rear main seal area and I wipe it off. Its not bad enough to actually drop onto the garage floor yet but leaks dont usually improve with age so I will call around and get some prices I guess thanks.
