those not-stretch straps work fine for a non-yank pull or a tow, but for a good stuck requiring a little momentum, you really need a 20k lb+ strap looped at both ends. I have a "canyon crawler" 20k from 4wheel parts and the thing will not die. It has quite a bit of stretch to it, and the recoil from that stretch really does do most of the work.
