Posted at The Celica Files : Some dumbass kid in an RSX blows his engine and tranny while doing 75 (in a 25mph zone). For some reason decides it would be a good idea to downshift at 7500 RPM in 5th gear to 4th, misses, hits 2nd instead...BLAMMO!

That gear box is as TOIT as a TOIGER! I normally downshift through the gears just to be safe. I am getting sick of seeing all of ricers with mommy and daddies money jump into a brand new RSX... only to put stickers and fart cannons on.

Guy with a BMW was racing, needle was in the red, but he needed more power, so he downshifted. Doesn't understand what happened, it has a computer controlled rev-limiter? Are people really that stupid? MV

Yeah, upshift would've been better, damn near anything would've been better. But it worked out in the long run, he pays to have it fixed, and eventually buys a supercharged M3- so he won't have to worry about running out of power again... MV

Agreed. 5th gear at 75mph with a redline doesn't add up. My 6-speed Vibe GT would have to be going about 130+mph to even approach the redline in 5th gear.
