Your rear diff will have a tag on it that says "Use LSD Oil"

Get underneath the truck from behind it - and look at the rear of the differential (the bulge in the middle of the axle... if you've got LSD - there will be a little yellow sticker that says "USE ONLY LSD OIL")

It looks quite a lot like this:

Damn - my fill plug is dirty, isn't it?

I believe LSD was part of a package...we could probably tell you that way if you cant find the sticker.

What other options do you have (power windows? fog lights?)

LSD doesn’t do anything, mine doesn’t at least.

With BAd Karma...you should stay away from LSD anyway....

(Yes - LSD was optional, not std, on '01's.)

Good point... it's a crappy enough LSD - don't feel like you're missing out on anything if you don't have it.

Maybe it is time for a big group buy on ARB lockers smile

With the ARB, does it keep our factory LSD when unlocked, or no? That would be ideal. smile

Naw - its either locked or open.

If the ECTED and so forth were available...THEN it would be an LSD when unlocked...but its still a replacement of the OEM LSD with new parts.

So I checked my truck for the sticker and couldnt find it. I would jack it up, but I am away from it for a few weeks. You say you can figure it out if you know a bit more about it. Its an 01 SE, Power windows/locks, sunroof, 6cd, fog lights...

Thanks,

the lsd isn't that bad. you do have to have both rear wheels on similar surfaces for it to matter though (both in sand, both in mud etc.....) not one on pavement one on sand then it doesn't really matter much. call a Nissan dealer local to you give them your vin# they should be able to tell you over the phone.

My sticker is is gone, probably on a trail somewhere.

If you want to physically test to see if you have an LSD lift both tires off the ground and turn one by hand; if the other turns the same direction you have an LSD, if it rotates the opposite direction you have an open diff.

Make sure the parking brake is off and transmission is in neutral (chock the front wheels).

It has always been standard on the SE, including 2001 models.
