I have looked at the 2005s and I like them, but I dont want to spend the money. What would be a good deal to look for in a used? Any years better than others, any major changes between years?

You can always look in the Buy and Sell forum. There are always great deals on used xterra's in there. I have a 2002 Supercharged xterra going for a great deal in there. Just shoot me an email if you are interested.

probably a lease or rental. seems like they do come up with some sweet deals. they recently sold an '04 pathfinder for $17,995.00. all high mileage, but the driveline waranty is still good. that is more important to me than the incidental crap that Breaks .
