alright i have an 03 xtERRA not and 0003 xterra

are my wheels 15's or 16's???

any replies would be fantastic

I think its 16"...though i think the 03' had both options

Either go out and look at your wheels, they will say 16 or 17 somewhere on them if they're OE, or post a pic. There's no way to tell if they're the ones which came with your truck or were swapped at some time in it's life..

read the size of your tire, it'll always tell you there...
265/75/R16 are tires for a 16" rim.
265/75/R15 are tires for a 15" rim.
similarly 33x12.50x15 are for a 15" rim.
and 33.12.50x16 are for a 16" rim.

So what changes have been made between 2006 and 20003?

Well, Hover Drive came out, had that stupid controller recall. Like the old days of Firestone, remember that? People just don't know how to hover properly.

They did come out with the Mr. Fusion Edition. I really thought that would help with the landfill issues. But folks just kept raiding dumpsters and such, totally forgetting about the free landfill refueling stations. But then again, most of those stations smelled bad too.

my 03 came stock with 16's. i have 15" rims from my old truck on now.

Depends on what model and options you have...my first X ('03 XE) came with the steel 15" rims. But yeah, it's easy to figure out if you walk out to your truck and looksy...also, you can stay inside if you want, and just tell us: are your wheels the alloy 4 spoke wheels, or the shinier multi spoke steel? If it's the first, then you have 16", if it's the latter, you have 15".

Guys, I'm sure he's figured this out by now, but he said it's an '03 SE. The '03 SE's came with 16" wheels. So, if no one has changed them, they'll be 16's. I'm surprised no one caught this minor detail...

Oh, and Welcome! You made a GREAT choice from all the "other" X's out there! There's 5 trucks just for that too just to get you started!

OK - Now the scary part...he's asking his rim size...so he's considering either new rims and or new tires...and, he doesn't even know how to read a sidewall.

Well, we don't know all the details. Maybe he knows more then we give him credit for but he was away from his Xterra, had unused credit on his credit card he was burning to use and wanted to order something online and wanted to know the size.

Whatever the reason, he probably would have been saved some insults had it Googled the specs of his model.

i believe that was added after the fact because when i replied, i looked on the left to see which model it was and it was all blank.

He didn't know what sized tires he had off the top of his head?

No one insulted him, merely pointed out the ease of solution, and, the implications of unrealized opportunities.

I know it would have been easier to walk outside. But a lot of people don't know their wheel or tire size. I would be willing to bet that more than half the people I work with don't know. Then again, I work for an computer company, so most of them don't know how to change a spare either.

One of my co-workers said he was out of washer fluid, and if I could help him out as he was on his way to a site.

So - sure, there's people who do not know ANY thing about cars.

That's why we're here...to learn'm.

I think driving school should be mandatory and teach people to get familiar with their vehicles. Like how to open a hood (that was a good one), how to fill up the washer fluid, how to check the oil, how to replace a light bulb, how to boost a car when the battery is dead, how to change a flat tire, what all the gauges mean, etc.

zuzuman - yeah, it was probably added after the fact. When I looked it was already there. That's why I was surprised no one caught it. I was just pointing out that 16's are standard on an SE (as we all know I think), and if he'd bothered looking somewhere for the basics (google, NISSAN, etc), he'd known that.

I also agree with 56k, all this stuff should be taught somewhere and be required knowledge BEFORE someone can get a license. My 17 year old daughter knows all the basics. I made sure of that and actually made her change a tire before I'd let her get her license. Whether she will ever DO any of this stuff is another story. It's hard enough getting her to buy her own gas. Damn teenagers these days...

Edit - found the 5th one too. He had a question 'bout putting Yakima stuff on the stock rack. That one was on the 31st of July. buffalo was nice enough to answer his question. Maybe he'll be back...

i know a lady that doesnt know what kinda car she drives. i asked her once, and she just said it was a red one. i asked what kinda car it was, she said, i dont know, its red.....people these days.

This was his fifth post...earlier he said he loves mud, and wants to get a 3" lift and wanted to know what 31" inch tires to get for it. :rolleyes:

He apparently bought it used, which means that it COULD have had OTHER Than the factory tires or rims on it already.

So - there are SOME reasonable explanations, most of which revolve around a very young person who is hopped up and ready to rock, and just needs some guidance.
