on a side note.... Carlton the truck looks good in the mag!!!!

I'll never get why they phased out that inline 6. Bad move, I say. The '05/'06 Rubicon Unlimited, that was the perfect jeep.
Until they come out with a diesel Wrangler, I say "meh".

Until they come out with a diesel Wrangler, I say "meh". Gotta agree. The inline 6 was/is a hell of an engine. Except for the exhaust manifolds. They crack pretty often and easily, but are also easy to replace/fix.

I understood they couldn't make the old 4.0 a certified low emissions engine, so they phased it out. The 4.0/4.2 I6 engine family was a leftover from the AMC days that dates back to the 60's

Good choice. If I were buying right now, I'd probably narrow my choices down to the Xterra and the 4-door Rubi.

I thought I also read that the I6 was quite expensive to build compared to the v6, and that the wrangler was the only vehicle still using it...

Douche.[/b]Actually, I don't think the Quest ever had the 3.3 did it? It started with the 3.0 and then went to the 3.5VQ I thought? Maybe I'm wrong? In any case, the VG engine came before the Quest and was adapted to it. Amd I don't think IH8Mud ever said anything about anyone else; just pointed out that the new engine in the Jeep is from the minivan. If that's the case (I don't know), then it's truthful information and I don't see the problem with the statement. I will say this, the engine from the minivan is not nearly as good as the 4.0 I6 was.

Another reason is that the long I6 couldn't get good enough crash ratings.
Anyway, the new Jeeps have softened up a bit. There's a photo in the article showing just how low to the ground the new Rubi is.
But that's the case with any make these days, even our X. Those Chevy trucks had less clearance than a Vette.
