Hi all,

If a camcorder, like the Canon Elura 100, says it has: Line In Recording Yes - Digital & Analog with pass through, does this mean I could hook a VHS player to it, transfer my VHSC video through it and on to a PC, and then edit and burn a DVD?

I have some salvaged VHSC tapes from "the flood" and some 8mm tapes that I'd like to transfer to my PC, edit and burn DVDs. My friend has the Elura 100 and thinks it would work. Any input?

Thanks!

Yep, you'd be good to go. Analog in to Elura, out of Elura via firewire to PC. Use a little freeware called DVIO for the transfer, as Type 2 AVI (better for editing than Type 1).
Make sure and have enough hard drive space. DV consumes around 14GB/Hr.
Windows XP has a DV codec built in, so you should be good there, but if you want just a little more flexibility, get the free Panasonic codec too.

HAVE SOME FUN!! smile
