The company I work for rented Chase Field in Phoenix and has a Grammy Award winning band playing - which is rumored to be Gin Blossoms (But they are keeping it under wraps).

Anyone else doing anything exciting for the work Christmas party?

We had ours at Westworld in Scottsdale (where Barrett-Jackson Events are held, but in the building, not the giant tent.).

Food was good, drinks were great, and I gave my notice today. [Laughing] (Time for a change!)

If I could choose, a GoDaddy party would be at the top of my list. laugh

Apparently my company is lame.

They're not doing shit. They never do.

One of the SVPs is throwing a party for past and present employees of hers though that I'm obligated to go to, and my wife's work Xmas party is the same night. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day.

Ours was at AT&T Park (home of the SF Giants) last weekend. You had the choice of coming either in semi-formal (cocktail) attire for the usual dining and dancing or casual wear if you wanted to go skating on the ice rink that's currently on the infield, use the interior batting cages, take a sled ride down manmade snow slopes, or have a snowball battle. They had a fireworks show, too.

Since it's always held on a Saturday, which is one of my normal work nights, I chose to skip the party and work. The initial feedback was that those who were in formal wear complained about the cold and those that were doing the casual activities complained about the long lines waiting to skate and/or use the batting cages. That's what happens when you have over 6,000+ employees.

Personally, I prefer the company's special summer celebration concerts. Last year we had the Eagles, Bob Dylan, and the Black Eyed Peas. That was ridiculous!

Edit: Oops..how could I forget The Foo Fighters played at the concert as well.

My new (to me) company doesn't appear to be having an after-hours Christmas party... but we're having an Xmas fish fry tomorrow at lunch. Kinda strange I guess - but I'm sure it'll be fun.

We don't have an "office" party per se, but usually for Christmas, we all get together at a local strip joint for an after-hours "Xmas Bonus" party. They close the doors to the general public, and we pretty much drink ourselves stupid, do a bunch of coke, and spend our bonuses on lap dances (and whatever side work the girls are willing to do). Then we get limo'd home, and our wives are none the wiser.

Oh, who am I kidding? We get a pile of homemade tamales, sit around the break room and listen to mariachi renditions of popular American Christmas songs. You haven't lived until you've heard a lively ranchera ditty called "Yingle Bell", or my favorite, "Guinter Guanderland".

If we have one (which we probably won't) it'll be a pot luck in the lunch room, joy. Our summer party are always the same: open bar (no shots but liquor is ok), crappy food (same menu every year), at the indoor beach volleyball place (kinda takes the fun out of beach volleyball, no?).

We have our 20th anniversary coming up this year, maybe they'll do something big for us, but I doubt it.

I wish GoDaddy was hiring for jobs in my skillset here in D-town, but such is life.

Reminds me of my Buddy's stag at "Brandies" (look it up Ben Affleck knows it. The father of the Bride called all the guys the day after and advised them to forget what happened....it was awesome

We celebrate all day. First off, everyone will probably pull one hour of tower guard so that the usual guys get a small break. The cooks will be the only ones exempt, since they will be cooking Later, we'll probably fire the 120mm mortar and run a couple of short patrols, rather than the usual 6 to 8 hour ones. Then, we'll have dinner and get back to work around 2100. Ah...the holidays - can't beat them.

For some odd reason, the tamale part sounds better.

Maybe it's because of all the ugly strippers I've seen around here.

That, and I LOOOVE fresh tamales!

Well it was one hell of a crazy party. Gin Blossoms were awesome. Just after Dinner was served they announce over the Jumbotron that we have a very special guest and his motorcade is just arriving. Then a huge black SUV escorted by a ton of police bikes comes rolling into the stadium and we're like WTF. Then they say "Please welcome the president of the United States" at which point we were still kinda believing it was him, then they show him going up to the stage with his fake secret service people, still looking pretty real. The first thing he does tho when he gets to the stand is a crazy thumbs up smile - which blew the deal. Funny ass George W impersonator - looked hella like him, I guess the guy had been on SNL etc. before. Was funny as all hell - talking about Domains and the Internets etc. He said he's like to rename www.domain.com to just w.domain.com - was a blast.

At the end of the show they opened up the roof on Chase Field and blasted off some fireworks.

Well I will be out of town for work on the official party day Tuesday this week and I blew off the one at the boss's house this past Saturday.

I'm not much in a festive mood this year. [ThumbsDown]
