Yeah, it's a slow day at work...but this place could use some livening up.

So far the fact that he's "not Bush" has kept the majority of Obama supporters happy. It could be argued his Nobel prize was awarded precisely for that reason. However, I've noticed the adoration has subsided and many - ok, some - Obama supporters are actually starting to ask, "Um...has he done anything significant?" When people start to ask those types of questions 9 months into your term, you're probably a one-termer.

You Republicans better get your act together and get someone with a clean background to run in 2012. From what I can tell, that election is probably going to be served up on a silver platter for you. And please...for the love of God, don't let Palin into the dance.

I hope the Republicans can NOT fubar the opportunity which will be offered in 2012. They need to NOT do so.

I am seeing a considerable amount of "Damn....wish I had my vote back" from Obamatards, or at least marginal O'tards. The warm fuzzy feeling they had whilest watching him parade around as a pompous candidate, has now resolved itself into a dull throbbing in their groin which seems to get just a little worse everyday.

The mentality used to vote for the next American Idol is proving to be "not so good" when it comes to our nations leadership.

The luster is wearing/has worn off and the idiocy remains.

I think he's definitely going to be a one-timer, but that's not really the important issue to me. I'm more interested in seeing the elections next year. That filibuster proof Congress is very scary and hopefully there won't be too much damage by then. I'm also hearing and seeing alot of buyers remorse everywhere. I do wish the Republicans would run a strong conservative candidate that truely backs less-government. Palin would be perfect, but the media would eat her alive. Then again, maybe that would be a good slap in the face to the media. America voting for someone they despise. Oh wait, they already did that with Bush and ended up winning by getting everyone to turn on him.

It mostly depends on two things. First, the economy. The worst of the recession should be over by the end of 2010, and things should be okay in 2012. But if the economy sucks Obama will be in a world of hurt. Secondly, it depends who is running against him. If it is Sarah Palin then Obama has nothing to worry about.

I saw in a poll that only 20% of Americans consider themselves Republican. Since Independents split somewhat in favor of the Democrats during elections I'd say the GOP is in very bad shape no matter what Obama does.

At this stage I would say 2012 is still very much in the Democrat's favor. Not so for the mid-term 2010 election; I think the Dems will lose a fair number of seats in the House.

PS - there is also the chance that some Democrat will try to unseat Obama in the 2012 primaries (ala Ted Kennedy vs Jimmy Carter in 1980). If it is a bloodbath it can only hurt the Dems chances in 2012.

One term? I don't think so. Everybody thought G-Dub was great when he was first elected too. He was a two-termer. Granted he SHOULD have been a one-termer, but if Bush can make it two terms (even if his brother DID help him get re-elected with the fiasco in Florida), Obama is WAY ahead of Bush.

"Say, ... Who's got trouble?
(Chorus)We got trouble

How much trouble?
Too much trouble

Well now, don't you frown ... Just knuckle down and knock on wood."

"Who's unhappy?
We're unhappy

How unhappy?
Too unhappy

Uh Oh.. That won't do ... When you are blue, just knock on wood."

"Who's unlucky?
We're unlucky

How unlucky?
Too unlucky

But you're luck will change if you arrange to knock on wood."

"Who's got nothin'?
We got nothin'

How much nothin'?
Too much nothin'

Say, Nothin's not an awful lot, but knock on wood"

Prime time for a viable 3rd party candidate. Someone like Ross Perot came along 20 years too soon.

I would definitely say that the bloom is off the rose for many Obama voters.

A lot of people are sorry they voted for him. But then again they are people who didn't do their homework to find out exactly what kind of a guy he was before casting their vote.

It's not surprising considering he lied his way into the White House. He portrayed himself as something he is not.

I'm not very confident in the national Republican Party getting their act together.

A large majority of the public is now clamoring for some conservative leadership to counter the leftist/socialist virus that has infected the body politic in Washington D.C. It doesn't seem they will be getting much relief from the national Republican Party.

The national Republicans seem to think they have to recruit candidates that are basically "Democrat Lite". Just look at some of the candidates they are backing for 2010. In Florida they are trying to destroy a good conservative candidate named Marco Rubio and are putting their weight behind the liberal fudgepacker Charlie Crist.

Shit like that is going on all over the place. Plus, the national Republican Party has Michael Steele in charge and he has turned out to be nothing but a buffoon.

The Republican Party has a HUGE opportunity going forward if they get their act together. They also have to stop letting the Democrats and the media define them.

40% of the public now self identifies as conservative. Will the Republicans take advantage of this and provide some leadership? I don't know. Not if they keep recruiting "RINO's".
