So far the fact that he's "not Bush" has kept the majority of Obama supporters happy. It could be argued his Nobel prize was awarded precisely for that reason. However, I've noticed the adoration has subsided and many - ok, some - Obama supporters are actually starting to ask, "Um...has he done anything significant?" When people start to ask those types of questions 9 months into your term, you're probably a one-termer.
I would definitely say that the bloom is off the rose for many Obama voters.
A lot of people are sorry they voted for him. But then again they are people who didn't do their homework to find out exactly what kind of a guy he was before casting their vote.
It's not surprising considering he lied his way into the White House. He portrayed himself as something he is not.
You Republicans better get your act together and get someone with a clean background to run in 2012. From what I can tell, that election is probably going to be served up on a silver platter for you. And please...for the love of God, don't let Palin into the dance.
I'm not very confident in the national Republican Party getting their act together.
A large majority of the public is now clamoring for some conservative leadership to counter the leftist/socialist virus that has infected the body politic in Washington D.C. It doesn't seem they will be getting much relief from the national Republican Party.
The national Republicans seem to think they have to recruit candidates that are basically "Democrat Lite". Just look at some of the candidates they are backing for 2010. In Florida they are trying to destroy a good conservative candidate named Marco Rubio and are putting their weight behind the liberal fudgepacker Charlie Crist.
Shit like that is going on all over the place. Plus, the national Republican Party has Michael Steele in charge and he has turned out to be nothing but a buffoon.
The Republican Party has a HUGE opportunity going forward if they get their act together. They also have to stop letting the Democrats and the media define them.
40% of the public now self identifies as conservative. Will the Republicans take advantage of this and provide some leadership? I don't know. Not if they keep recruiting "RINO's".
