I searched the site but couldn't find anything. For those of you that fish: How do you carry your rods? Roof rack set-up, ski rack, aftermarket, homemade? I think a ski rack would work perfectly but I don't want to pay for a ski rack. I have an idea of building my own rod holder (ha ha ROD holder) to attach to the rack but I'm looking for any ideas from the group.

Thanks.

They sell these cool rod covers at Gander Mountain and all. That, some PVC piping and some of the threaded caps would work well. Just strap that to your roof rack. You'll look like a plumber, but it'll work.

I picked up a nylon and velcro setup from a yard sale, said they got it from cabela's. I havent done it yet, but it looks like it should work by running it between the roof rails, its a two pc set, so one end up towards the front, and one near the back with the tip of the rods pointing back is how I am going to set it up. should be easy on, and easy off from what I can see. Just a though.

My fishing rods fit quite easily in the 21' travel trailer that I tow with my X.

I purchased a vehicle clothes rod from Walmart that hangs across the back seat. I then cut a broomstick, drilled holes at the ends, attached wires and then hung that pole in the trunk section. I then place my rods over the 2 poles with the reels at the back. I use velcro strips to tie down the rods to the poles. I carry both large saltwater and light freshwater poles in my Xterra all the time. By keeping them inside the vehicle, I don't have a theft issue.
