2000X never changed this filter. Was wondering if it would help the ac or is just for the cabin?

If you die of a horrible lung infection, you will not need ac. If planning on living, just change the filter. If you have an empty filter housing/no filter when delivered, etc...the empty housing tends to be full of leaves and dead bugs, and some live stuff. Enjoy!

If some come delivered w/o filters then it must not be impotant. Nissan wouldn't want me to die while driving it.

True, the filters are an option as some/many don't have them installed when new. However, it's a very simple mod to add them as the door/cover where they go may need to be cut open.
That being said, it's a good idea to have them in there. I'll admit that we haven't had in-cabin air filters fairly recently, as far as automotive history goes. Cars and trucks have always just sucked in the outside air. And the X's do that too still. But, the difference is that with the advent and availability of the filters, especially in the X's, the ROUTING of that air has changed. The X's have dead air places and corners where, as TJ mentioned, leaves, dead bugs and even "live" stuff (think mold) can collect. Not good stuff to be glowing into your cabin and breathing!
So no, Nissan doesn't want you to die while driving your truck. But, the filters sure make a BIG difference in the quality of the air you're breathing.
Add 'em if you don't have 'em and keep 'em clean so they can do their job.

Some Air bags were an option too....so I think its safe to say that their level of concern for your well being was tempered by your concern for the sticker price. You, or whomever bought it from Nissan obviously didn't spring for the extra sticker bucks.

Next?, has anybody tried cleaning these filters? I would rather spend the money on a beautiful woman.

OK, just checked the box, got stickers, peeped behind box, nissan didn't cheap out on this baby. 4 screws holding box on plus right side trim molded together, I guess all this comes off. Do u have to disconnect the neg battery cable or is that just for the frontier?

To remove the glove box? Remove the glove box and look already... If you don't have the door for the filters, it's a VERY simple mod. Unless of course you have to put on a full chain mail suit to use a box cutter!

fyi, no door. Stick to the facts. Its a fact that you simply cut the pre-scored area out and slip the filters in.

facts: no door, no pre-scored area, just stacked filters. Um, how did they get the filters in there then, and how did you see them? Did you just mean that the cover was already scored and removed, so that the ends of the filters were visible? They are not normally stacked either, essentially along side each other edge to edge rather than stacked on top of each other.

yes, the ends were visible & stacked, attached with grooves. Before pulling out, tug on bottom first.
Thanks everyone for all the support.

Thanks everyone for all the support. Good Luck Mark, hopefully, your air will blow a bit harder and be a bit cleaner now.
