2003 Headlights

Ok, I prefer the look of the square headlights better than the new 2003 roundlights. Whats up with that? Havent they learned from Subaru's mistake with the WRX? Funny how the new WRX has more aggressive square lights now and went away with the round lights. In any case, the plastic or metal rim that goes in front of the 2003 that makes it look more round, that can be taken off correct? Cause it doesnt look that bad actually when taken off. Every pic i see has it on, so i thought it was permanent. But I saw just one pic in your Gallery section that looks like a 2003 without it. But not sure. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks..

I know they are bright, so I guess I cant complain, but they are in at optimal position for me.

what exactly do you mean by "optimal position for me"?
If you are possibly blinding on-coming cars, shouldn't you have that taken care of?

For those with an '02-'03 X and getting flashed: I went through the same thing from the night I picked up the X until I properly aimed the headlights. Not one flash after that. I saved the illustration for aiming last time Ian posted it: Even though many assume the lights could never come from the factory or off the dealer's lot out of spec, they are indeed aimed too high, although obviously within Nissan specification. Hope this helps!!

at least we're not putting in hid's. now that would blind people. i was driving one night and some truck had them. the way they were blinding me i can't imagine how it must've been for a car.

maybe I need to check under the hood again, but where do you make the adjustments on the headlights? I tried once, but couldn't find any adjustment screws or whatever... I even looked at the manual and it says to have the headlights aimed by an authorized nissan service center. I don't get it.

Hey guys, The adjustors are located directly in front of the radiator support where it meets the inner fenders on each side. They are on the top back of each housing. Although the picture sucks the driver's side adjustor looks like this: To adjust take a stubby Phillips head driver and insert it vertically into the square bracket until the bit engages the teeth on the adjustor wheel. I don't remember which way to turn but I do remember it took a lot of revolutions to produce substantial progress. Good luck!!
