I have a Motorola Cable HD DVR with a 120GB hard drive. I want to hook up a Burner or external hard drive to transfer some of the programs...any of you guys have experience in that direction?

Yours isnt networkable? Tivo has a prog that pulls the vid off, letting you burn it to DVD. Maybe yours has the same?

I have a DishDVR 522 and am in the same boat. I found out that it runs a Linux OS and the filesystem is accessible, but all of the programming stored on it is encrypted. I ended up buying a analog/digital video converter and importing the video into iMovie/iDVD and burning it that way. Its definately slow and a pain in the ass. I know that *some* Motorola Cable DVRs have a firewire port on them and the video can be pulled form that just like a DV camera. Bastard media companies locking us out of our fair use... mad
