i am un familar with the shades of window tint. i looked in the search thing and the things that came up were the legality of each tint in each state. i was just curious on what 20% looks like/ and if anyone has a link to what each tint looks like can you post it on here. thanks

the look of tint can vary because there are many different shades of tint. metal content and color are used to describe tint. go to a tint shop and they usually have a bunch of samples up on the door or something.

but to answer your question, 20% is typically the same as stock tint on rear windows. not always legal on front windows.

The rear windows on your Xterra are approximately 20%. The legal limit in most states for front side windows is 35%.

i just tinted mine about 2 weeks ago with %20. from the outside all the tint looks the same but from the inside i can tell the diff.

never the less i like it. i was smiling about it for about 3 days.

so chuck does that mean that i can get mind darker?

the % is how much light transmits thru the tint. so 35% lets 35 percent of the light through. 20% only lets 20 percent of the light through. so lower % is darker.

most states allow 35% on the front windows, and as dark as you want on the rear windows. then there are rules about how big of a strip you can have on the front window. but always check your local laws since they all vary by state.

i was told 20% is the same as the back, but once i got it on the front, the 20% film was visually darker than the rears. From the outside, you cant tell because the large amount of light coming in from the front, but on the inside its darker. Id think a 25% would be a better match, maybe 30% but i dont think a 25 is available. Nevertheless, I like my 20%, look in my sig.

25 is available and 27 is the limit in colorado
