My '01 is about to turn 60K and I know that is low mileage for a 5 year old vehicle. But I am curious to all the other '01 owners who have broken 100,000 miles, what maintenance issues have you encountered with getting up into the higher mileage arena??

Cheers

I replaced spark plugs, timing belt, and water pump the two times mine went through a hundred thousand. Tires as needed. Put in an Optima battery sometime between 4 and 5 years. The oem was still working, but it was time.
Hood's rusty at the leading edge - it eats a lot of salt in the winter. I'll be replacing that soon. Brakes have been remarkably good - pads only so far. Clutch is still original. A few headlamps over the years. I think I was one of the first to have the fuel sending unit adventure.
Over 250,000 miles and it gets the same mileage as when it was a baby.

60k plugs, 100k plugs, timing belt, all hoses, water pump. 123k radiator.
1 pass exhaust manifold a few years ago, 2 plastic seat belt buttons (the thing that keeps your buckle off the floor before you put your belt on), tires, oil, 4 solverstars, and a few thousand gallons of fuel..

'00 with just over 90,000 miles now. One broken leaf spring and dashboard circuit board replaced under warranty years ago. Other than than, normal maintenance, Optima redtop and new brake pads. Still getting 22 mpg.

Glad to hear I can expect 250,000 miles.

Yeah, I'm calling BS on that unless it's downhill in neutral with the key turned off.

Depends. I got 23 mpg on one tank coming back from a trip where they had real gas, not the blended crap you find in the city. On the way out, close to 20 mpg. My mileage has been increasing all summer. This on 33s on a s/c with suspension & body lift.

Well...ok. Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt what you say, but look at it this way: doesn't it seem odd that of all the hundreds (thousands?) of X owners on XOC, everybody gets 15-18 MPG average and 19-20 tops and then there are a few that get 22-23 MPG plus?

why did you need to replace the tranny?

Apparently 2000-2001 Manual transmissions have a tendency to go kaput before 100K miles (knock on wood.)

I get 22 mpg in the summer because I drive a stick and do little or no city driving and no high-speed, peel-your-face-back highway driving.

5th gear and 2500 rpms. [ThumbsUp]

That sounds like 45-50 MPH, is that correct? 'Cause mine won't go below 3000 RPM at 60 or above.

Because first gear and syncros went ka-boom! and got into the rest of my gears. [ThumbsDown]

45k - Bought used
50k - Replaced crappo tires with Revos
66k - Exhaust Manifold
80k - Front brakes, Electrical wiring wear behind dash
105k - Timing Belt, & junk
110k - Current mileage
Maintenance w/in the next 6 mo's:
- spark plugs and plug wires/dist cap
- new battery
- new front brakes
- new tires
- new shocks

Except for the manifold & the wiring issue, I'd classify everything else as regular maintenance.

2K SE with about 147K right now...
- no major replacements on anything
- standard brakes, tires, fluids, service
- all recalls done (did have the fuel sending unit crap out on me)
- parking brake wouldn't release - rusted something-or-other replaced
- have had a squeak in the driver door going over large bumps
- vibration (from just in front of firewall?) started about 3k miles ago

That's all for now. (knock on wood)
