Encountered my first problem ever with my X last week (steering gear box), and stumbled upon XOC. I must admit I am addicted to the site.

I've had my '03 SESC 4x4 Granite X (w/leather) since she was new, and love her!

I am originally from Calgary, AB Canada but now live in a northern suburb of Dallas.

Also a noob to offroading... [Wave]

ooch - the steering box is unfortunately an expensive one... see if you can find one in a junkyard or something ( http://www.car-part.com )

Welcome aboard!

Yeah. Grrr. Steering box. However, Nissan's extended warranty covers it 100%, and even provides me a half decent rental. I am impressed!

I will check out the SWXC!

If your warranty is close to running out you need to check to see if your exhaust manifolds are cracked, if your rear main seal is leaking, and if you have a knock sensor code (it doesn't set the SES light).

These are all extremely common failures that you don't want to have to fix outside of warranty.

Thanks for the tip!. I will have the dealership check that out before I pick it up in a few days.
