#20948 - 31/01/07 05:34 AM Anyone have any problems replacing headlamps?

Hey guys, short story....Once upon a time one of my headlamps went out, aka, only one headlight worked. So I naturally went to Autozone to get a pair of new headlight bulbs. When I replaced the old ones, something must have happened because now when I turn my headlights on, on the normal beam setting, its almost like their high beams, and when I flick the switch to what is supposed to be high beams, the lights get dimmer, almost like what a regular headlight should be, and also the blue high beam indicator in the dash turns on and stays on no matter what setting. What the hell did I screw up?

Are you sure you have the right headlights? The 2001 used 9004 headlights, later years of the 1st gen X used 9007. May be wrong, but seems like I read where they used the same socket but weren't wired the same. Be sure they're 9004s.

Edit to add: it sounds like you have the wrong bulbs. Read this:

9004 vs 9007

I just checked the package...and yes, I got a pair of 9007. I know that I used the manual inside the store so it must be wrong there.

Thanks a lot man. Wheel on!

My manual said to use 9007 lights but when I tried to put them in they wouldn't fit. So I looked at the old headlights and they were 9004's, then I just went back and exchanged the new ones for 9004's and now they work fine. What were your old lights?

I stuck by the manual, the Navy taught me if you go by the book you can't go wrong [LOL] so I modded the '07s to fit and they did some pretty strange things. hi/lo reversed, hi beam indicator always on, lights angled way up. I just switched them back to '04s and whoopie, everything is back to normal.
So yes, the manual is wrong. 9004s not 9007s

Related to this: My headlights are not aimed anything like what they were before replacement. I can't find anything that allows me to adjust them. I don't find anyhtin gon this site using the search feature? What it is? Do I just re-install them and hope for the best?
