Besides, wait a few years and most if not all of these features will be standard on cameras that are far less expensive. Cameras don't shoot great pictures, photographers do.

There have been a few occasions where something faster than 2.5 fps and 4 images, max, would have been handy. But, for the most part, with good glass (and even not so good glass) I've been able to take some really awesome pictures with my trusty old friend. I agree that it is the photographer and not the camera. It all depends on what you are photographing. If I were being paid to take photos of a high-profile sporting event, my DReb wouldn't stand a chance. It's all in the intended use. _________________________ 2002 Just Blue XE 4x4

And $3999 isnt bad for that camera considering the 1D markIIn was going for $3800 for a very long time, in fact I think it is still around that price. And I didnt realize how much I use the full 8.5 frames per second until I got it. I'll fire off 5-10 pictures at a clip, can't imagine 110 jpgs or (30 raw, a litte more realistic)in a row. I was used to the 3.5fps of my D60, and the 5fps of my friend's 20D. The 8.5 is insanely fast. Well worth it. Edit to add I dont recall reading of a crop factor for the new 1D mark III. I highly doubt it will be full frame. More likely the 1.3 CF remains unchanged.
