Just a question from a new owner of a new xterra. I now have 300 miles on vehicle(automatic) and notice that the motor/tranny seems to sound like its winding high, before shifting into next gear, even though I can see the tach is only around 2000 rpm.
But if I didnt have the tach, I would have thought that the first gear was winding too high before shifting. Exhaust sounds pretty thoaty also.
Is this the normal sound of the 4.0 engine, or should I have it checked out.
It drives just fine, but I don not want to be concerned, and run to dealer with a non problem , if I dont have to.

Much regards to all.
