I just purchased an 06 OR 4x2 and got the 2k rebate which I needed. The 07 OR is expensive since it only comes in 4x4 this year, and there are fewer of them with the S and SE dominating sales.

Something about a 2wd Off Road seems odd...like a submarine with screen doors...

Very smart move. Off-road 2wd made no sense at all.....I could see a 2wd pre-runner Frontier maybe....

We ended up with the 4x4 S, because the only off-roads we could find around here were 2 wheel drive. Nissan said the closest 4x4 off-road was in Arizona. No 4x4 off-roads for California, whats up with that?

I hear you, finding the right Off Road is like finding Waldo!

I think we've nailed downn the right one, and we're holding our breath. Should find out mid-week if we go it. Hard to strike a great deal on a vehicle that is hard to find! But I think I got it close to invoice minus $1K rebate.

Crossing my fingers!

Good luck on getting it.
Price looks good too.
BTW all OR models are shipped here (or it seems. our dealers in town are sitting on a dozen or so)

It is very easy to find the model with the options you are looking for. Nissan dealers' websites show every option on every Xterra on the lot. I found mine 400 miles away, made a deal over the phone, rode an overnight bus ($80) to pick it up, and drove it back home the next day. I got everything I need and nothing I don't. It's awesome!

A dealer lied to you?

The NissanUSA site will allow you to search the inventory of dealers for matches for the Xterra you've built and rank them on how close they match. I found a bunch of 4x2's but enough 4x4's that my dealer was able to find my '06 in Palm Springs. It took him about three hours to fetch it but the $1000 UNDER invoice made the wait more enjoyable.

I live in the Inland Empire so I did a search of the nearest dealers to me. There are darn few 4x4's but there are some.

I found a 4x4 OR in Redlands in midnight blue, a silver lightning and super black in San Bernardino, and super black in Riverside. The web site displays four inventories at once so you have to play around with your zip code to tell the thing you're willing to drive 10 more miles this way or that way for the SUV you're looking for.

I understand your OR pain. In this area, the only 2nd Gen X's are "S" models with the 5 spoke wheels. The "X" models are starting to show up. I search NissanUSA a good bit and it is rare to find an OR or SE in Ohio. It is like the S is the top of the line or something. Most people that I talk to get the S for around 22k.

yea, ive seen a few blue OR X's in the north Los Angeles area.
On a side note: you can still get an new 06? I think if i ever get an X it would have to come with an aux input, comes in very handy. Wish the glove box between the two front seats had an aux plug right next to the power plug. That would rule. You can just turn on your mp3 player and keep it in the box.
