Of course it is, because just like Windows XP compared to 2000, there is nothing in Vista that isn't in XP when it comes to games.

The entire Games for Windows marketing push is nothing but bullshit to sell more XP and Vista. If a game plays in XP, it will play in 2000, only better. Games coming out right now have to run in XP Compatibility mode on Vista.

NT ruled. 2000 took it to the next level. XP piled useless crap on top of 2000. Vista piles even more crap on top of that. But if you look under the hood, it's still NT.

Games using Directx are the same regardless of what platform they run on, it's 3d geometry, textures and audio, nothing more.

Um....There is one HUGE difference that is in Vista and not in XP.....That's the whole point to this topic!

Comparing XP vs. 2000 to Vista vs. XP is a load of crap! DX9.0c has been the main DirectX from Windows 98 through XP(WIn 98, Win 98SE, Win ME, Win 2k, Win XP). DX10 is currently only offered in Vista and not in XP. There is your difference....Games that are being written now will run in Vista and XP, but alot of them will only truely shine if using DX10 which can only be found in Vista. That's why it's a good thing that DX10 will be written for XP

No one is buying Vista, Microsoft is scrambling to save millions in sales of DX10 games.
