It's about time they start using some of this stuff we've been developing for years. Prove it is battle ready or loose it and move on to something that is. Save money and lives (other than the enemy that is).

If it can operate with out any of the "issues" its had in the past its a huge upgrade over the Sea Kings the Marines are using now...
Less crew, more cargo/troop capacity, 100 mph faster, twice the combat radius, twice the ceiling and a faster rate of climb just to name a few advantages...
Would hazard to guess its more fragile though...we will have to see...

The real question is, are these cocksuckers gonna release these at auction when they're decommissioned, or destroy them like they do the Hummers? I want one to go down to Baja in. Do up the inside like a Winnebago and fill it with hot bitches and a deep fryer.

I worked at one of the air stations where that thing was tested. No fucking way will I ever voluntarily fly in one. That egg-beater had enough problems, delays, budget overruns, and hair-raising near-disasters that I'd just as soon the marines made do with C130s and H46's.
Unless, of course you could load it up for a Baja trip...

It will be years before the osprey replaces the CH-553E, it has taken longer to develop this aircraft that all of the current fighter jets. the numbers given for speed and cargo are before the Navy derates it. The only thing it has significantly over the super shitters is ceiling and maintenance hours per flight. I hated folding the tail and blades of a 53 on the deck. This thing is supposed to fold shit around in the air.
Cool technology, overly complicated for a combat platform.
Semper Fi to the ones with balls enough to fly it.
