ok ill be moving around march or april of this year.

frankly where i live now i do not feel safe whites have become the minority (i am not racist i just like to stick to my own (group) as much as possible)

and really have no idea where to go.

i am wanting to be in the southeast/south-midwest.

im open to all suggestions but have a few things i would like.

1. small/smallish town/city town im in now is 200000 which is to big

2. redneck/country community

3. strong offroad nature

4. mostly white

5. must be able to find work

6. im compete in db drag racing (high end stereo competition) so it would be nice to have a few other audiophiles around.

7. im 19 i dont have alot of money saved and would love to be able to find a house for around 130k and below.

i will become a registered member as soon as i can afford it (im saving every dime i can)

I hear the Klan is pretty active is some remote parts of the South. Sounds like you should start there.

Goose Creek SC is the place you want to be. It fits everything on your list. Contact member Origami Gangsta he could probably send you some real estate magazines. [ThumbsUp]

Wait a minute..did you just say a HOUSE for 130,000? I must be living in the wrong state. smile Until I saw that I was going to suggest upstate NY. I'm on the road up there for work a lot and it's gorgeous. Tons of trails, cheap housing, all white, etc. 130k won't get you more than a studio apt or trailer here though..

I'd look at Eastern Tennessee. Small towns around Knoxville or Chattanooga.

I'm sure there are lots in Texas. This was part of the confederacy you know? I consider Texas to be part of the South however, Texas is a "minority majority" state now. Too much color I'm sure.

Plenty of land in Southern AZ, and an endless supply of reasons to discharge your firearms. I'm just sayin'..

You'll be hard pressed to find somewhere with a labor deficit, mostly white population, and houses practically being given away. This ain't the '50s, kiddo.

If you want to live in a place where your vast personal talents are appreciated, and are unencumbered by the inconvenience of rubbing elbows with less-than-desirable races, I'd suggest you do what so many others before you have done: get an education, make a shitload of money, and move to an exclusive, rich community with a manned gate and roving security patrols.

There's still the option of moving out to Bumfuck (ie the Yukon) and scraping out a living, but don't expect that it will be anything but hard. Usually people don't overpopulate places like those for a reason, and usually the reason is that it sucks to live there.

Don't mind Shahram.... Kalifornia prices have distorted his perceptions.

My (fairly nice 1500 sq ft built in 1989 on a corner lot) house in the northern suburb of Dallas called Allen only cost me 127k 3 years ago. A lot of Texas fits your requirements fairly well.

There is a fairly major 1/4 mile track in Ennis where they run NHRA top fuel - about an hour south of Dallas.

ETA - oh, I just noticed that the "drag racing" thing just related to stereo comps... but they have those around the state as well.

I dunno if I can call him a racist on this issue alone. I've been having a hard time with this one. Where do we draw the line between personal preference, cultural discernment and outright racism? He's white, and prefers to be around other whites, so we assume it's because he dislikes other races. But why? Would we extend the same assumption to other races who prefer to stick to their own ethnic ghettoes (and I mean that in the literal term, not the negative connotation of "ghetto" which connotes a slum), in order to procure the goods and services and culture that they are accustomed to? Would we tell a Korean who prefers to live in Koreatown that he is a racist because he doesn't want to live in predominantly latino East L.A.? Would we call a Mexican a bigot because he'd rather live taco-adjacent instead of sushi-surrounded?

Maybe this kid just wants to live in a place where sports bars with names like "Skidoodle's" serve extra mild chili-lime chicken wings with mayo as a dipping sauce. Where the "Molly Ringwald" dance does not invite ridicule. Where overweight women proudly wear oversized plaid flannels over over-sized t-shirts emblazoned with weeping kitties and rebel flags and the words "Missin' My Land Of Dixie" over pastel spandex tights and high-top cross-trainers. Where Cabela's is an acceptable purveyor of fashionable couture. Where teenagers drive their bondo-and-duct tape muscle cars to the Circle K or the Kum&Go or the Stop-'n'-Shop to find out whose parents have gone to the Indian casino for the weekend. Go east of Berdoo, and west of the Jersey shore, and you will find this pasty, denim-covered tribe...millions of them, all swaying to the same twangy voice crackling over the radio.

I have heard "Jack and Diane" emanating from the guts of a Chevelle. I have seen the jean jackets, smelled the GPC Lights, tasted the luke-warm PBR. I have seen such a place. I have been to their land. I have walked among them. Open up my soul, shine a light on my heart. There, see the scars of America.

It's interesting that the word "racist" is usually associated with whites' prejudice against other races. Obviously that's not always the case. For example:

1. A recent article in the Atlanta paper addressed a terrible dilemma facing young black women: whether to vote for Obama because he's black or Hillary because she's a woman. This in a world where these same young women are presumably concerned for their futures because of racism and gender discrimination. Doesn't the fact they're asking this question indicate they're contemplating practicing the same evils of racism and gender discrimination themselves?

2. Also in Atlanta, last year numerous police officers forced their way into a 92-year-old black woman's home in a botched drug raid . As they tore the burglar bars from her front door, she retrieved a pistol and got off one shot before she was killed in a hail of police gunfire. (A couple of the cops were wounded, apparently by their own ricochets.) After a failed coverup, the officers have been brought up on charges, as they should be. But Atlanta's police chief has not been forced out of office. If Atlanta's police chief wasn't a minority, wouldn't the the Sharptons and other activists have stormed City Hall demanding his firing or resignation as opposed to giving him a pass?

3. Reverse the races in the "Jena 6" case and say six non-minority students jumped a minority student. Wouldn't the protesters have been insisting on lengthy prison sentences as opposed to freeing the offenders?

Just food for thought.

Oh, and as for the original poster, good luck.

Man I dont get some of you and your opinion that because he wants to live around whites hes racist. Get over your selves.

Lets remember, I dont have to like the things YOU like. If I want to live in the middle of no where I can. If I'd rather not shop in the black, green or dirty part of town, I dont have to.

Personally I prefer to live in the 'white' part of town. Whats that mean for me? Less crime, nicer homes, better neighbors, better shopping, better roads and better city services. Am I racist? If thats your definition thats your problem. I also prefer not to live in the trashy white trailer park a few miles from here. Nor do I want to live in the over priced mostly white condo community down the street. Is that racist too?

Maybe in a over run large city full of millions of folks you dont have choices, I do and I exercise those choices. Stop judging others that do too.

NC is beautiful. Stay out of the larger citys and your golden. Most of East Tennessee is nice too. Anywhere along I 81, I 75, I 40 (east of Crossville) will put you in an area where you can have some land, nice house (under 2000 sq feet) and some space for 130K easy. Heck in Knoxville you can get 2500sq ft and an acre for under 200K.

Sort of a side-issue, but in all honesty how is it that the south is so damn dirt cheap? Out west a nice 2000 sq ft house with some land would easily run $500,000 or more, depending on the particular area. And I'm not talking about the metro areas (ie, Seattle, Portland, Bay Area, LA, etc.), I'm just talking about the smaller cities or more rural areas. The building materials must cost about the same, so I guess it's just regional markup.

Lots and lots of po' folks.

Yeah, I know, there are shitloads of poor people up north and to the west too, but we seem to have a good stranglehold on them. laugh

That, and low standard of living. The South has ALWAYS been cheaper than the North.

That being said, I can't wait to get the hell outta SC.

I've lived in:
- Texas (San Antonio & DFW area)
- California (Bay Area)
- Okinawa
- Louisiana (New Orleans)
- Florida (Tampa area)
- Georgia (Atlanta area)

...and mostly through business trips and my former airline employment, I've been fortunate enough to have traveled the country and the world. FWIW, my opinion is that the South is just not the most desirable section of the country. Low salaries, less education, more ignorance, racial issues (both sides are still fighting the Civil War here in Atlanta), tons of people with victim mentalities and a sense of entitlement, and so on.

The South is also more laid-back, more FRIENDLY, less stressful, and cheaper to live. There's a sense of unity and a small-town mentality, even in larger cities. We also have sweet tea, boiled peanut stands on the side of the road (I highly recommend Cajun flavor), country fried steak, sausage gravy and grits. Some of us are even close to the beach!

As far as places to live:

I've been to Knoxville and it's extremely cheap to live there, but I ran into a lot of people who didn't seem very intelligent. My best friend lives there now and she jokes about the "Cowboy Up For Jesus" stickers on the pickup trucks, so maybe that's the "redneck" mentality you are looking for?

North Florida also has many places like what you describe. There are many places right outside of Jacksonville where you can buy land and have peace and quiet and still be close enough to the city if you ever need to go there. (Actually, some places are still considered "Jacksonville" but technically they aren't.) Green Cove Springs, Middleburg, parts of St. Augustine, even a few minutes away in Southern Georgia. If you travel southwest, there are places like Ocala which has a plethora of farmland. You can even look off of I-10 between Jacksonville and Pensacola (most boring drive EVER). There are LOTS of places around here considered the "country".

The "country" folk even go to all the Jaguar games. Sometimes I'm amazed at how they just appear out of the blue. smile

(Go Jags, by the way. They kicked Raider ass today!)
