I'm looking to drill two small holes to mount an XM unit. Does anyone know if there is anything behind the plastic circle thing beside the row of buttons in the middle of the dash? I dont plan on going deep.

Also, is there an easy way to take the dash out and see behind it?

That center part of the dash comes out pretty easy.
Check out the sticky at the very top of the
"Stereo, Communications and Electrical" section.
Pretty pictures and everything.

If you are talking about the lower section (is the round thingy your talking about where the 4x4 dial would be?), not sure on that...

Yup.

I mounted my Roady XT there using a Roady2 mount and the included double-sided tape.

here's my xm install using that hole on the dash.

Nice setup tf, but the OP has a 2007 X.
The thing he's talking about is a bigger round thingy under the stereo on 2nd gen X's.

2nd gen doesn't have those smaller dohickies above the radio.

I did that on my '03:

Exactly... did you glue, tape, or drill into the round thing? I had tape but it has since failed... I am looking for a more permanent solution.

I used the double-sided tape that came with the Roady mount.

So far, so good.

This is for the '02 but it might give you some ideas.

Thanks! I bought so STRONG glue at Lowes Friday and that did the trick. Will try to post some pics this week.
